So do u think it is a good idea to buy a new monitor instead of repairing this 1. I get a new monitor in my country from $130US - 450US and that is from 14' monitors to 21' crt the LCD monitors is very expensive to buy.

How far from the sides is the image? If it?s just an inch or two you can use the monitor adjustments to expand the image to the edge of the screen where it was previously. If its too far in then the only option is to have it repaired. You didn't mention where you are but in the US even a minor monitor repair that involves at tech opening the monitor is going to cost at least $45, perhaps more. That?s a lot of money for a monitor worth about $100 new so a new or used monitor may be a more cost effective option for you. That?s probably too much to adjust for using the monitory controls. As far as your question goes, yes it can be repaired by a qualified service technician OR someone with sufficient skills, tools and experience. This is beyond the typical user so you'll have to take it to the local TV repair shop. Be warned that they will probably charge more than 1/2 what the monitor is worth and would probably only warranty their work for a month or two..

I have a dell monitor and I keep getting this notice that control menu is blocked. how can I resolve this?

For the E771MM, press and hold the OK button on the monitor for 15+ to toggle off the OSD lock. Holding the button turns on the OSD lock as well. The OK button is the rightmost of the control buttons (excluding the power button). This is a useful feature if a small child will be near the monitor or if the monitor is being used for demonstrations.

The user's manual for the Dell E771MM is here: .

I hope this helps.

When the monitor (dell e771mm) is hooked up and the computer is turned on, the monitor goes right to a solid blue screen, no text, no error messages, i can manually control the monitor menu and it displays...

I do not think it is your monitor. Plug it into another working machine to see what it does. The result will tell you whether it is the monitor or the computer.

There is no webcam on this monitor. It's a display device only, with speakers built in but that's all. Here is the user's guide on Dell's site with all the monitor information.
