Question about Sharp LC-37D7U 37 in. HDTV LCD Television

Open Question

Sharp TV not displaying the video from PC (RGB to DVI - Input 5)

Sharp TV not "seeing" the video - no Hz being displayed when video out is sent from the PC RGB port.

Audio is working from PC to TV

Signal source on Input 5 and set as Analog PC

tried setting PC to 1024x768 ; 1280x768 ; 1280x720

video setting Picture OPC Off tried On On:Display

tried MENU Setup - but Input Signal & Auto Sync. not selectable (probably because TV not seeing the video input from PC)

tried PC RGB video out to another monitor & it worked

DOES this SHARP TV act as PC monitor?

Link ASUS laptop to Sharp Aquos LCD TV

No, a DVI to VGA adapter will not work. (The TV is looking for the digital signal from a set top box. This is different from the analog signal on the VGA cable.) You need a converter. Your best bet would be a VGA to component video converter. (I am assuming that the Sharp TV has a component video input.) This page has some examples: http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/video-converters/vga-rgb-hv-to-component-video/c10000-c11200-c11215.html?sorter=productname-en-asc . Note a VGA to component video cable will not work. The VGA to component cables are for projectors that read the RGB signal. The component video signal is YPbPr.

Connect the VGA cable to the converter and the component video cable to the TV and the converter with the computer and TV off. Turn on the TV first and set it to the component video input and then turn on the computer. Then (assuming the VGA port is enabled - adjust in the BIOS if needed) set the computer's video output to the VGA port. (On my Windows 7 laptop, this can be done by right-clicking on the desktop. Choose Graphics Properties and set the display to the external monitor or both. Click Apply and then confirm the change (on the external monitor if using the single monitor). (VGA to Composite video converters also exist if you do not have an available component video input on your TV.)

If your computer is fairly new, you may have an HDMI port. Your TV may be able to read the signal with a DVI to HDMI cable. (It depends on the TV. Not all of them will read the computer's signal on the DVI port. Check the documentation for your model. TVs without a VGA port are less likely to support this feature.)

I hope this helps.

How to turn on rgb from lap top to tv.

In order to connect your laptop to your TV using RGB, you need an RGB adapter. RGB is also known as component video; it breaks up a video signal into red, green and blue. laptops do not have RGB outputs. However, many laptops have VGA, DVI or HDMI outputs. An RGB adapter connects the single VGA, DVI, or HDMI cable to an RGB cable, which is actually three different cables tied together. INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Connect either the VGA, DVI or HDMI (in the order of increasing video quality) cable to the VGA, DVI or HDMI port on your laptop, depending on what is available. 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the side of the RGB adapter with the single input. 3. Connect the RGB cables to the red, green and blue ports on the other side of the RGB adapter. 4. Connect the other end of the RGB cables to an available component input on the back of the TV. 5. Tune the TV to the component video input you used through your television's menu. 6. Turn on your laptop. The laptop should now display on your TV screen.

You need to set your MAC video resolution to the native resolution of this TV in PC mode, please read your manual to find out what that is, if the resolution is set too high, the TV will not be able to display it.<br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"><a href="http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide">http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide</a></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA"><a href="http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums">http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums</a></span>

What type of audio jack rgb/dvi in on rear of lg 50ps3

the dvi out of pc via adaptor to hdmi on tv has no audio,ok.
so LG diagram shows separate audio into Audio in RGB/DVI.
Resulting in video in on HDMI ok,but audio on RGB.Can not get both together.
Fix is revert to DVI to RGB lead with audio on RGB/DVI input.
The audio jack would only work with mono plug for audio in, to RGB.

Want to connect my Sony vaio VGN-A250 to Sharp 19'' LCD TV

Your laptop will have a VGA output or possibly a S-video out. For the VGA you'll need a standard VGA cable. Plug the cable in to your laptop and the PC input of your TV. If your TV does not have PC input it may have a DVI input. IF it does you can use a VGA/DVI adapter to plug it in. If it doesn't have a DVI input you can use the S-Video output on your laptop with a standard S-video cable. After the connection to your TV is made you will have to toggle alternate display by pressing and holding your [Fn] key and pressing F4, or F5, or another F# key. It's the one that looks like a TV screen. Press once to turn on output, press again to turn off your laptop screen, press again to go back to laptop screen only

I want to make conection betwen tv.sharplc-42d62u topc

    Hi,

To my knowledge, the Sharp LC-42D62U do not have a VGA or DVI inputs. While they lack dedicated PC inputs, you can make use of one of the HDMI inputs, use a DVI-to-HDMI adapter and connect to a computer that has a DVI output.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
