Reinstall your internet service, if you have the installation disk, or call your Service provider to walk you through it.

Currently I have no password for the internet. Is it possible to put one on it?

Once you have logged on to the computer as a user, you have access to the Internet, if it is connected. You need to change the access permission for the standard user accounts, by a user with an administrator account.
You can ban access to Internet explorer as a program, to prevent access to the Internet.

I have an active internet connection on my Dell Vostro 200, and try to install a program just saved and it says there's no connection to the internet, try again.

if your internet connection is working, like you can access web sites, try to uninstall the program, run disk cleanup and delete temp internet files or browing cache/history. afterwards, make sure the program is not blocked by ur firewall or anti-virus if any as long as you are sure it is safe and legit. afterwards, install the program again. if it fails during installation again, try to download the set up file again as it may not be complete or it is corrupt. if it fails when it tries to load after installation, check program help documents if it has a internet setting that you need to adjust to make sure it will connect through your connection method,.

Can security issues (firewalls)block internet connection? I couldn't connect and when I turned off my firewall, it worked. However I cannot keep my frewall turned off

Yes it can stop your internet.
First you need to know what program seems to be blocked, for instance, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Etc...
Then you need to gain access to your firewall and check to see if there is an exception for that program, and if there isn't, create one.
If your using the built in firewall that comes with windows, you can find the controls for that under the start button, and control panel.
If your using a software firewall, then you will have to work your way around inside the menu system to add the program as an exception.
If you have a literal hardware firewall (a literal box in your homeoffice for instance) or a router from your internet provider, such as cable or dsl, you will have to find the access port and change it.
Access to the port is gained through the browser, and usually is at a port from to, but can be anywhere from 1 to 255. and 1.100 are the 2 most used ports for access.
If there is a password and you don't know it:
If it is your hardware, and not the cable companies or the dsl isp's then you will have to reset it, there is usually a spot on the back (but it can be anywhere) that you push in with a pen and this resets it.
Usually the reset process is done by holding the button in for about 5 seconds, and then while doing this, turning off the unit, sometimes by pulling the power plug out of the back.
If the router or dsl modem is not your hardware:
If this is the case, you should contact your internet provider.
There can be settings that are unique to your isp (internet service provider) and resetting the hardware could render the hardware non functional.

I temporarily had my virus detection off and received a malware trojan. It has been removed, but I can't get on the internet now. Have my settings been changed or how do I fix this? Thanks!!

If you are sure the trojan has been removed, you can try a couple of things. First, make sure your drivers for you network interface card are installed and enabled. Of course, make sure your ethernet cable is connected to you modem/router. Third, once you are sure that the network interface card, drivers, and cable are installed try re-installing your internet explorer or whatever program you are using for internet access. You might have to install your internet access program from the disk or you can download the internet explorer program to a flash drive on another computer and install it on yours. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Won't connect to AT&T DSL service

Most desktop computers do not come standard with wireless connectivity, and the 530s is no exception. To connect to the internet, you will need either an ethernet cable to run between the computer and the DSL box, or a wireless card, which can be installed inside your computer, allowing you to access wireless networks.
