SOURCE: my ipod chromatic is completly frozen.

You are doing the reset wrong. Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

My 8gb apple ipod nano chromatic isn't working! you can faintly see the little "connected" sign with the plug, but it's really dark. i can hear when i put my earphones in, but that's it. my computer...

Slide the hold switch to hold then off, hold then off. Then press the play / pause menu button at the same time and hold until the Apple lego appears. This usually takes 5 to 10 seconds. You may have to repeat this a few times. It worked for my ipod. If this does not work try going to the Apple website. There will be a lot of reading to help with your problem but it will be worth it.

Unfortunately when you reset your ipod you may lose data. To reset you need to hold the menu(top button) and the play/pause(bottom button) for about 5-10 seconds. This should shut your i-pod down then you can re start it

First thing to try is a reset

To reset your iPod:

  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Try holding the PLAY/PAUSE and center buttons down for 10 seconds. This is a reset for the iPod.

Make sure the HOLD switch is not turned on. This locks out all controls on the iPods.
