Did you have continuity from one brush to the other? Some Bosch tools use "pop off" type of brushes. When they get worn down a spring loaded center pops out and keeps you from damaging the armature. If they are fine check cord continuity. If the cord is fine it is most likely the switch. You can test the field for continuity also but those rarely ever fail. Here is the parts diagram.

SOURCE: how do you replace the brushes on a Bosch Drill GSB18-2RE

The brushes are usually accessable from the outside, sometimes not, but just remove the plastic cover with a screwdriver, with it unplugged and the brush pops out, replace with one the same size.

SOURCE: The brushes on my Bosch hammer drill have worn

Hi, sorry you have been struggling to find a service centre, this is a link for service centres in the Shropshire area http://www.boschdesign.co.uk/dealer_locator/loc_result.asp?strLocator=&strPostArea=SY&strType=ysn_bsc&intProduct=
Please be aware that if the brushes are badly worn this may indicate a more extensive and more expensive repair
Hope this helps

SOURCE: I have a bosch hammer dirill that won't chip nor drill but motor run fine

Hi, have you tried the various positions on the front part of the gearbox behind the 'chuck'?
If so, then Im afraid it must go in for repair. These are not an easy fix and personally I would recommend you ask for a 'quotation' as it could be just something simple to do with the 'Gearbox' selector, but it could also be something a lot more serious within the Gearbox.
Good Luck & Best Wishes, John..

Drill bit rotation stops

www.powertools-aftersalesservice.com this site allows you to input the model number in the trade name box or if you look on your tool you will see a 10 character code quite often starting with a '0' enter this number in the part number box. This will then display your exact model variation, voltage etc. (the former search will bring up a list of possible models, voltages and countries). From the parts break down you will see there is a clutch fitted. Testing of clutches is not easy and many makes can not be adjusted. I have seen on SDS drills the guide lugs in the tool holder have sheared/Worn away and the drill bit can be turned freely if the steel balls are removed from the chuck. On a max there are more lugs but I don't suppose it is unheard of these al wearing away. If it is a clutch problem you will hear the drive slipping. If it is the latter the drill will sound normal. All that said It could even be gear teeth that have broken and so not meshing in the rotation mode. Only stripping the tool will identify the fault.

Does the bosch hammer drill gbh4dfe have a thermal cutout

No, if it got hot and won't work you have another problem you can start troubleshooting by looking at the cord and continue thru to the brushes.

I have a bosch brute hammer drill, that just stopped working after 2 hours of breaking up concrete and rock. It is brand new, and worked fine to start with, but then gradually took longer and longer to...

Take it back as it is still under warranty. If there was anything you could do other than letting it cool down it would be in the instructions.( which you have since it is brand new.)

Drill just stopped? not working

These tear the brushes out. You can not use them for hammering. It is a design problem.

Replace the brushes and use only for straight drilling.

No power

Check the Cable between the plug and the switch for continuity using the ohmeter or continuity tester part of a cheap multimeter. Place one lead on each of the plug contacts in turn, and the other on the other end of that wire. If this is okay, check the switch for continuity by placing each lead of your tester on the in and out contacts and pressing the trigger. If still no joy, check the brushes. If still no joy, check the motor windings for continuity.
