Re: dead, the cap light does not lite just dead
No fans , No lights, No sound? Unplug computer and plug something else into outlet to see if the outlet works. If it does the look where the electric cord plugs into the computer , There is a switch . Make sure the switch says 1, not 0. If that doesn't help either have the power supply checked or substitute another one to see if that may be the problem.

check all the leads to the hard drive and check that the fan starts spinning when you switch it on if it dont start then the problem is the switch these do often go and can be easily replaced and they are not expensive i had the same problem and found that it was just the switch hope this solves your problem for you you can bypass the swith so that the computer comes on when you turn the plug on but when you shut down the computer this shuts everything down but the switches are cheap enough to buy if you have changed the power pack then the only thing it can be is switch .................................
Heat sink switches? I have to assume that you're talking about a dead mother board but the fans and the LED on the mother board are OK? This is a classic eMachines problem. Their power supplies glitch and take out the mother board sometimes the power supply goes bad too.
Most times a new ups does not have its internal batteries connected yet. Follow the manual to connect the batteries. If they are already connected plug the device in for at least a day to let them charge. Make sure nothing is plugged into the UPS durring this time. Also make sure you have pressed the "Power" button on the device to turn it on. Some have a switch on the side while others have a button on the top where everything plugs in.
There are a wide range of possibilties. first if nothing at all happens when you press the power button. (no lights no sounds etc.) then the most obvious culprit would be a dead power supply or a switch in the back thats off.
Are there any fans or lights?
