Problem with PC Laptops

Acer Aspire V3-571 webcam

Open Question

I cant get any software to recognize the webcam. I have downloaded all the recent drivers including those from the acer website, but every time I attempt to install them I'm told that there is no webcam. This also happens when I try and install the acer crystal view software. I initially had the software on my computer but when I opened it it told me there was no webcam and disappeared off my had drive! Has anyone had a simelar issue and if so how did they fix it?

Go to Device Manager and open up Universal Serial Bus controllers and you should see USB Unknown Device. Right click on the USB Unknown Device and click on Uninstall. Shut down the Aspire One PC. Unplug the power adapter to the PC. Remove the battery at the back of the PC. Wait 1 minute.

Put back the battery. Plug the power adapter. Turn ON the Acer Aspire One pc. It should automatically detect the Acer Webcam and it will be listed in the Imaging Devices at the Device Manager. :) yay

For my Acer 5920, I use this - Press Windows Start Key - All Programs. Click on Acer Empowering Technology, which will open list. Choose Acer ERecovery Management. This will take you to a screen where you can select from various Restore options, including Reinstall applicatoins/drivers. Next screen is Contents or Manuals. Choosing Contents will take you to software & drivers, which can be reistalled from there.

try this it sometimes works. 1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). START > RUN > (Type) REGEDIT (and hit ENTER) 2. Locate the UpperFilters and LowerFilters value under the following key in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC708002BE2092F} Write down the upper & lower filter valuse. Delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters value (it's safe, and if could be restored later on if you have written it down, so don't worry)

Some newer cams are not compatible with Yahoo, check here to make sure yours is. If not (too new) then try a 3rd party software to run it through... I've used a free fun one called 'ManyCam' , if you run your laptop cam through that it should work on yahoo messenger.

Good luck!
