Question about Singer CE-200 Quantum Futura Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Top thread not looping the bobbin thread

I have a singer futura ce-150 and it was working beautifully until I put the wrong hoop on and the needle hit the hoop and broke the hoop.

After that, The needle was hitting the embroidery foot, so I took a screwdriver and pushed (knocked back the arm so it would not hit anymore.

Now the needle does not hit the foot or bobbin case and everything seems to be working fine, but the top thread is not doing anything. The needle just goes through the fabric and the thread never loops the bobbin thread, thus no stitch, just straight thread.

When I place the bobbin in, the top thread properly picks up the bobbin thread and pulls it out through the needle hole, but after that I get the error above.

I have seen a lot of issues about timing, but I do not know if this is timing or something else. If it is timing would anyone be able to tell me how to retime the machine? thanks in advance.

In your case, I believe that the needle height is out of adjustment, and it's an easy fix. Insert a #14 needle, and make sure that it is ALL the way up in the clamp. You can determine that by looking at the shaft right above the clamp; the needle end should be resting against what looks like a grey bar.

Next, take 10 pennies and stack them on the needle plate. Your machine's needle should JUST be resting under the needle; it should be a tight fit. If it's off just a "smudge," leave it alone. If it isn't, take the cover off the needle area, and locate two Allen screws on the needle shaft. The one that adjusts needle height is the bottom one, and you should only loosen by about 1/2 turn -- not take it off. Adjust to the 10 penny standard, then make sure that the eye is exactly to the font, then tighten.

SOURCE: Needle hitting metal casing .. Singer Futura CE 200

It happend to me aswell , not getting the source of the problem!
Then I noticed that the bobbin casing was out of the original position, take the whole casing out and make sure that when you put it back that the small metal tension loop at the front side on the right is correct, this image you can see in your handbook, (placement of the bobbin casing)

SOURCE: The needle constantly breaks while embroidering.

My foot does this with different thickness of fabrics, it will make the foot land in different, areas, sometimes making the needle hit the foot. Always check needle position before you start embroidering. once your hoop is ready, check the clearance. I often have to use a small roll of non slip material under the foot handle, the one used to bring the foot down. And I use this to adjust the needle postition so it will always land in the middle of the embroidery foot. There is also a way to adjust the height of the needle arm but that's too complicated to get into here and I've never personally tried it.

SOURCE: Singer 301a...sews on top of fabric

This is a tension adjustment problem. It's good to use two different colors of thread, like you did. From your description, the top thread (needle thread) tension needs to be tighter. As you tighten the tension of the top thread, you'll see that the top thread pulls the bobbin thread up into the fabric so it's no longer laying loose on the bottom of the fabric.

You'll need to have the pressure foot down when you tighten the tension. Tighten it a little, sew a practice seam, check to see what the stitch looks like. Tighten it a little more, sew, check, etc etc--until both top and bottom look the same--you shouldn't see much (if any) of the bobbin thread color on top of the fabric or the top thread color on the underside.

Let me know how this works for you, ok?

Thread my bobbin, Code 88 starts flashing & all lights

I owned a CE-200 for about six years, and as I recall, that code blinks if your needle is not all the way up. If it is NOT up, operations are suspended until it is. That means that the hoop cannot reset to its default position.

My Singer Futura keeps beeping and stopping every few seconds.

There are a few problems this could be. Your top thread could be broken or about to break; your bobbin thread could be broken, about to break or empty/about to become empty and is loose around the bobbin; you could have a birds' nest (a mass of thread just under the fabric/presser foot and/or within the feed dog and bobbin) forming and causing a jam; or it could be your Futura having a little bit of a hissy fit. Obviously, if you've checked for broken thread you need to move on. Check for a birds' nest by removing the fabric and clip your threads. If you find one, clear it, rethread your bobbin and begin sewing again. If there's no birds' nest, then place the fabric back in and try sewing/embroidering again. If the machine acts up again, I recommend removing the fabric/hoop, rethreading your top and bobbin threads, replacing fabric/hoop and resuming where you left off. If the machine still gives you trouble, try hitting the start button for a couple of times and seeing if the problem doesn't simply resolve itself. When you're embroidering areas that have a few small, short stitches only, the machine seems to act up a little and then behaves fine once you bypass the area. Be sure to take all of the other steps first, though, because a birds' nest will RUIN a beautiful seam or embroidery.

I have the futura ce-100. When embroidering it

This annoys the heck out of me, cause it happens a lot more than it should. There can be some valid reasons as to why it happens, though.

Bobbin thread is coming to top when embroidering. I have changed needle and re-threaded several times

Just an FYI-the bobbin thread needs to match your top thread. The majority of the thread that appears in the top of your embroidery actually IS the bobbin thread. The machine is working correctly. Don't use a bobbin full of white thread-instead, thread a bobbin with the color your doing the embroidery work in to match and you will have a perfectly beautiful embroidery.

Needle hits the plate that is over the bobbin.

If possible hoop the item. I have found that any item that has any thickness causes the presser foot to be pushed forward and the needle hits it and breaks. If you can press the item to lessen the thickness this may help. I spoke to Singer (I am a Singer dealer) and they did not have any help for this other than to recommend that the owner cut out the back of the foot. I don't think that would be a solution as it would be difficult to cut out the back of the foot and still have smooth edges, also it would cause the foot to be weak and possible break or bend. Good Luck

Bobbin/threading

Could be acouple of things. The tension on the thread or the bobbin. The needle not in all the way. Wrong type of needle for the thickness of the material. My problem was always trying to pull or push the fabric with the needle in the material - cause a bend, then the tip snags the side of the bobbin hole. Snap it's gone.

As your friend suggested, check the threading of the bobbin, the click she/he might be talking about it the first rotation of the bobbin, then being snagged by the needle thread. Good luck!

Singer futura ce-200 tension problem

stop, remove all threading, clean machine,be sure to clean the top tenion disks with a thicker thread, change needle, rethread carefully and try a test swatch. If not working still, your tension could be out of adjustment. Adjust top tension until the top thread of your swatch balances with the bottom. Use two contrasting colors of thread so you can know which tension is wrong,
Remove bobbin and dangle by the thread, it should not move untill you jerk it and should drop about 3-4 inches. Adjust small screw until this works. Try another swatch.
