Preheat issue with a new kenmore electric range

I recently replaced a kenmore range with another kenmore model # 790.96214. I am amazed at how long this range takes to heat up. I almost spend more time preheating this oven thatn I do cooking in it...is this normal?? For example it takes 20 minutes to get to 375 and nearly a hald an hour (okay, 26 minutes) to get to 425....my old oven never took this long. Is this the way this is supposed to operate?? I'm ready to send this baby back. I've had it 3 weeks on Friday....HELP! i was told by a sears technician that I didn't read the manual and he said after the preheat signal beeps I am to wait an additional 15-20 minutes! I tried to preheat it today to 450 and it would not go over 400- I have an oven themometer

I have the same problem with a brand new Kenmore range we bought a month ago. I had a cheap Roper coil stove before this and had absolutely no problems with it. Too bad I got rid of it. I've got a technician coming to look at it this Friday so hopefully I'll have an answer as to why it takes half an hour to preheat.

My oven used to preheat in a reasonable amount of time but now takes over 40 min and isn't even reaching 325! Called repair man..we'll see what seems to be wrong.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error E0-F3 means oven temperature sensor failure and to resolve this the oven temperature sensor should be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Preheat taking long time

If your oven has the hidden bake element then it is probably working properly. A standard oven with an exposed bake element will usually take about 12-15 minutes to preheat. The hidden element models take a little longer but they usually heat a little more evenly.
