Changed all my ink cartridges on astylus PHOTO R280 and now the print comes out with a green ting.

I suggest that you clean the inkhead with a wet paper cloth (just a little amount of warm water . enough to make the paper cloth wet).

Remember to remove the inkhead before wiping it with the paper cloth. After that, let it dry and put it back in. Try printing.

My calibration page printed on plain white text paper

When you calibrate the 5100 AIO, first, you push in the photo paper drawer until it CLICKS. Next, print an alignment sheet. It will use the photo paper. Pull the drawer out, put the printed sheet in the scanner bed, with the arrow in the right hand corner, closest to you. Press start and it will scan and print a sheet on full sized paper.
If your initial scan doesn't print onto photo paper, you don't have the drawer pushed in the whole way. There is a definite click and the green light will turn on.

I am printing exterior photos of a buildiing on regular paper for test only. The color is printing out with a green tinge. What is happening?

Not using genuine HP cartridges could be one reason. Low ink cartridges could cause not enough ink to be used to make a certain shade of gray or black and thus causing the green tinge. Also if you are selecting photo quality printing then you need to use photo paper. The printer drivers tell the printer different commands depending on what kind of paper you tell it you are using. Good luck!

Thermal paper uses heat to "write" onto the paper.
Normal paper is heat-resistant, and so it would be "blank".

Probably, you're OK. Try using thermal paper -- you've got nothing to lose, at this point.

When i print onto photo paper i get a green colour cast. it is ok on ordinary paper.

Hi linnik
Just replacing the plain paper with photo paper is not sufficient. You have to tell the printer you are using photo paper.
For you have to select the print preferences /or properties or features (the wording will be different for different printers). Find where the option for various papers and select the photo paper. and do the correct submenu selection as well.
After doing all these print.
Hope this will solve your problem.

Colour photo printing has a green tinge

This could be one of many things.
Monitor Calibration to Printer.
Camera green Bias
And good many more
The thing is not to print direct from camera , but to use an image editor to colour correct.
A free simple one is Googles free Picasa.
Otherwise there are many more some free a lot to be paid for.
As always there is a learning curve.

Printing is very green

I would suggest that you clean the carriage assembly with a q-tip and at least 90% solution of isopropyl alcohol. Then I would check the carriage rest area, using a clean paper towel carefully soak up any excess ink there. Then check the paper path from start to end and make sure that there is no paper pieces.
