GE side by side refrigerator has stopped working...
About three weeks ago, the ice dispenser would only give us crushed ice instead of whole cubes. Two days ago, the water dispenser stopped working all together. I just noticed about an hour ago that all the ice is melting, and that the power is on but the refrigerator and freezer is not cooling. The refrigerator is about three years old.

Sound to me that the unit may be stuck in defrost. look for the time clock and or if it is a newer unit check your condenser coil it may be dirty. the unit may also have a leak on the refrigeration side of it.

check to see if you ice bin has full size ice cube in it... if there is then you dispense is stuck in the crush mode check to see if there is something keep the crushing wheels from releasing... other than that it could be the control on the door..hope this helps
You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back
and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts
connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see
if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid
Ihave zannusi ZX99/5SI fridge freezer. Top-freezer compartment is not cooling. I have done as before, defrosted and cleaned both fridge and freezer but, with no luck. Freezer is working OK but top-fridge is not cooling. Could you please help with advice in what to de next.
Had the same problem, dispenser stuck on crushed ice, even when cubed ice is selected. There is a magnetic switch behind the panel where the motor for the ice dispenser is. It gets water in it and freezes so it is not free to go up and down. It is always down for crushed, but for cubed ice, the magnet pulls it up. when it's frozen with ice, all you'll get is crushed. You'll have to defrost it. You can defrost the whole freezer, but better to just remove the ice dispenser and defrost that. Three 1/4'' bolts hold secure it. You'll have to unplug the wires from the back of the freezer to remove the unit. The just let it defrost and dry. You can remove the switch from the panel and dry it out too. I've had to to this several times and am looking for a solution to keeping water out of the thing so it won't freeze again. Has anybody solved that?
There is a solinoid in the freezer section by the motor that turns the ice auger. Test it by selecting cubes and with the ice bucket out, open the door, hold the door switch so the lights turn out and push the dispenser button. It should make a loud snap and travel upward. If not then I would say you have a bad solinoid. If it does, then I would look at the bucket. the metal rod that runs along the side of the bucket opens a flap in the bucket that is supposed to let the full cubes drop. look for anything that might cause it to be hanging up.
