Wireless funct. not right on my HP pavilion notebook dv6500

I believe my Linksys B 2.4 ghz router is functioning properly, however when my HP notebook with built in wireless card is activated the signal appears to be fully activated, but after a short while it disengages and shuts down ? Any clues?

This problem usually occur when your hardware gets older.
The wireless module can be changed from the service center, if problem is irritating.

I just got a new hp notebook. I have an ehterfas linksys router.

Make sure that the wireless switch is on (usually indicated by a blue light). Then go to control panel>network and sharing center>connect to a network>choose your network name>type in the security key if you have one and connect. Alternate method: Right click on the wireless icon on the system tray at the lower right hand where the time is and choose connect to a network, choose the network name and type the security key of your network then connect.

this may not be a good solution but yeah you have to coz maybe your wireless network card is getting too much "noise/interference" from any other sources.

You'll need to go to control panel/network and sharing/setup a new wireless router or access point. Then follow the instructions in the setup wizard.

Startup

Disable the start up features on the wireless, if it has an enable/disable function. This will increase the boot speed, but you will have to manually turn on the wireless or search wireless connections manually. This is a common annoyance, doesn't quite qualify as problem, but there is no win win situation with this. Either you have slow start up or manual wireless.
