Question about BenQ T701 TFT 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Hi, I have a quick question about my monitor. I have a Benq T701 LCD monitor, I think, and it is not using the bottom inch of the screen or the top 1/2 inch of the screen. How can I reset it to factory settings? (It also made the background black instead of the image I had it set as when I tried to change the resolution) Thanks

Possibly either the backlight lamp or its associated power supply has failed. Power buttons (mostly LEDs) have constant availability of low voltage (for some other circuits too) otherwise they wouldn't 'wake up' on command from a computer as some do.
The blackout could also be due to a failed main power supply so the incoming video is no longer being processed.

I can't get the screen up. I see its plugged in

Does it work with Desk top PC OK?
When you use it with laptop, you need to use Fn key and either F4,5,6, or 7 depends on your laptop to select how the display will work: both, extenal ony, internal. Please post back.

I brought my benq t701 to a repair shop to due blackout screen. But due to lack of parts, it was not repaired but all 6 transistors were removed from the PCB. Please show me where these transistors were...

go to and get the manual from there will be easier as the transistors are directional i believe they are 2sc5707s from memory but you will need to check the transformers and the 2 filter caps on either side of them as if they are faulty will blow transistors.

Tech problem

If you can, check the display settings.
Some graphics cards have an option for dual monitors.
Sounds like the card is seeing only 'monitor 2'.
If you have more than one monitor port, try plugging both monitors in.
If no luck, you may have to boot into BIOS at power-up and configure from the menu.
But be careful not to fiddle with unknown settings in BIOS - this is the 'nerve center' of the computer and could cause total digital catastrophe.
If not sure, don't.
Or get expert to help re-configure.

Monitor's led shows but no screen

Check if there any bulged on top of each capacitors ( caps look like tiny battery) and replaced those caps... If not sure, just replaced all the capacitors. Have fun!

I will assume the line goes from top to bottom and is straight.
If so bad news I am affraid. It is the driver tabs that go from the panel to the physical panel controller board and is not making correct contact.
This will normally continue to get worse until you lose entire bands of the screen.

Sorry for the nad news.

Benq T701 LCD monitor

I had a similar problem: the backlight on my Benq T701 only functioned for a couple of seconds every time a turned the monitor on and then the backlight switched off (sometimes in two stages). An electronics guru at work said with those symptoms the transistors rarely were the problem and I just needed to resolder the connections of the high voltage coils onto the PCB. On visual inspection those solder connections seemed ok, but when I tried to reflow the existing solder at one connection I spotted the problem: just a thin surface layer of solder was present and I had to add solder to fix the problem. The 4 coils each have 6 leads on one side and 2 on the other. I only soldered the connections on the side with 2 leads. In just 30 minutes and without buying parts the monitor is now up and running again.
