I have an IBM ThinkPad with an Intel High Rate Wireless Lan PCI card. My Linksys WRT54G Router indicates I am connected. I could not figure out how to enable DHCP, but went with Static IP and can now connect with a full the Router. My other two laptops are working well with wireless. The Thinkpad shows a highly active connection with full signal strength, however IE does not load. I've checked the all settings recommendation, including security and connection on IE Internet Options menu. Still, no IE page load. The Linksys Router is working well on on the ohter two machines (Dell with XP Pro and Vista), but no connection on the ThinkPad. I also have a Dell to which I've attached a D-Link wireless card via USB which I cannot connect to the internet as well.

If you have your software disc that came with the laptop you can customize it and only load the internet browser. You may have a glitch in the program.

Hi There, My IBM T40 Think Pad keeps on losing connection with hard disk frequently, Before i tried to remove it & Reattached it again & it has worked, But now it's not helping any...

If the hard-drive is losing connection even after removal you should test to make sure that the drive is still functioning.
Try to see if your system has an on-board diagnostic, (f12 on startup, before the windows loading screen) this will tell you if the hard-drive itself is actually broken, or if it is just a connection.

I have an IBM T40 (2379). Sometimes it boots up, sometimes it doesn't and beeps 4 times at me, but the real problem is that the screen will come on for 3-4 seconds, and then shut off. What could be my...

Beeps usually mean there is a problem with your system hardware. 4 beeps usually mean a memory failure, but beep codes vary. Google "beep codes" to get a list of meanings. Lenovo Support has several pages for this. Try HERE

IBMThinkPad T40 Wont connect to wireless networks.

Hello, if you see a yellow exclamation mark it means device drivers are not installed or are incorrect.
below is the link for IBM/Lenovo site that lists all the drivers for Thinkpad T40/T41. Go to that linkand scroll down to " Wireless Networking" and select the appropriate drivers: eg: Make sure it under T40 section, and not T41 since they are listed side by side.
since i am not sure which exact wireless card your T40 has i am posting this main link where it lists all options.
I would start with "ThinkPad 802.11bg wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter" if this doesn't work try next one in the list.
here is the link:

I hope this helps, let me know if there is a problem.

Kind reagrds,

Amar Sondhi
