Car Seat Base for Eddie Bauer Model #22-627 FRK

I bought this infant car seat at the beginning of 2009 with our first daughter and now we are having our second child and we would really like to get a second base for our other car. I have searched and searched and just get more and more confused about what I can buy (if I can buy anything). Does anyone know where I can find a second car seat base for this model? Thanks so much!

SOURCE: Good Afternoon, My question is this. I'm

My experience with tandem strollers is that they are difficult to manoeuvre in cities (over kerbs, grass, gravel, etc.) and hard to turn. I also found that the infant car seat into the stroller trick is short lived, and you'll need the stroller for a long time after you need that.
My recommendation would be to buy a good side by side double with larger jogging type wheels instead. Tike Tech makes a great one that folds easily and is a lot easier to push.

One month old should not be in a car seat that allows for upright sitting. If it is convertible you have it in wrong. The seat should have a base unit which should be firmly fastened and the carrier should snap in and out of this base allowing you to carry your infant to and from the vehicle without having to detach the base every time you exit the vehicle. This is done so to prevent the unsafe installation of car seat under the stresses of time. If you seat is the kind that does not have a permanent base, go get one. It is very important that you do not modify the installation of any car seat for any reason. Placing a towel under the base as a barrier between the base and your seat is acceptable, but not to raise or lower the front or back as this may compromise its' design and decrease its' effectiveness. If you cannot figure it out, go to your local State Police Barracks where in most states they have a pregame designated for the safe installation of child infant seat carriers. This is very serious. The proper installation and choice in infant carriers can mean the difference of life and death in case of a relatively minor accident.

How to install infant car seat

The two clips are both for the LATCH system - they're not top tethers (which go to the back of the seat for forward facing seats only).

You need to choose EITHER the LATCH installation OR the seatbelt installation - doing both together can put too much stress on the belt path of the seat, causing the plastic to weaken.

If your car has the LATCH system, there will be two metal U-shaped anchors in the seat, where the seat back and the bottom of the seat meet. Some cars only have them for the side seats, not the middle, so check your car's owner's manual - if you don't have them specifically for the center seat, you'll have to either install with the seatbelt or put it in a side seat to use the LATCH - don't try using one anchor from each side, as they won't be the proper distance apart.

If you'd prefer to use the seatbelt to install, kneel with all of your weight in the seat to tighten the seatbelt. It's tight enough when it can't move more than 1 inch from side to side if you grab it at the belt path and pull it back and forth. You probably will still be able to pull the TOP of the infant seat back towards the back of the seat of the car - that's not a problem - it helps the seat to cradle the baby through an accident.

You need to have an owner's manual, though - to request a copy, contact their customer service at [email protected] or call them at 1-800-544-1108.

Rather than just trying to give you general advice without seeing the car seat, where I live the local fire department will check your car seat for compliance to safety codes and if you bring it to the firestation I believe they'll basically help set it up properly. It might be worth checking in your area.

General guidelines are that an infant has to be rear facing, backseat only. Modern seats and cars come with a belt with universal clips at each end. This belt passes through the car seat and clips into the universal connectors which are hidden either between the seat and the backrest in the car or are accessible through slits in the backrest. The belt should be secured tightly enough so that it doesn't move a lot while a little side-to-side movement is ok.

If you don't have the universal connector belt the seat can also be secured with the cars seatbelts. Check the manual for your car for diagrams showing how this can be done.

The seat should also be tilted back (towards the front of the car). Some seats have level indicators built in which tell you if the seat is tilted within the proper range.

There have been some recalls of Eddie Bauer car seats and the list of model numbers might be worth checking (if you are able to determine your model number without the manual).
