My Iphone's touch screen is coming up as being black and it makes the noises when it's plugged into the laptop and opens Itunes but the problem is  that no matter how many times i press the unlock button, it won't unlock.

    Blank screen

my iphone did the same thing. i was using it everything was fine. i pressed the lock button on top and the phone would not come back on.

The screen just stayed black. It would ring and would beep when someone left me a voicemail but screen stayed black and you could not

do anything with it. After I stopped crying(lol) I tried charging

it, resetting it, etc. nothing worked. I took it to the AT&T store and

they put it on the charger there, it said low battery but came back on.

When the clerk looked at the screen it showed I had a full battery. She

said to take it to the Apple store and exchange it. It is working now

but I am worried it will happen again. Still love the phone!

I have the exact same problem. iTunes detects the iPhone (sames the typical sound) and I'm able to load music, update firmware, etc, BUT the screen always stays black. I've tried pressing the home and power button (all kinds of combinations) without success. I have also tried restoring the firmware (different versions) in iTunes but still no luck. The restore process completes without any problems but the screen remains black. If I leave the iphone on until the battery dies, the iPhone sometimes comes back up as normal (screen is OK, I can make/receive calls, etc) but whenever I press the lock/power button, it dies again. (black screen)

Hey I have an iphone and work for AT&T All you need to do is press the top botton and the little round botton and hold fot 20seconds until the little apple shows up. Then do it again. You are just doing a reset. Also are you keeping the updates downloaded from itunes. These little updates are crucial for your iphone.

I had the same problem--my phone was fine all day and the next time I pulled it out the screen would not light up.  I thought the battery might be low and plugged it into the wall outlet.  The screen lit up for two seconds then went black.  I freaked out.
After reading this page, I decided to try to fix it through iTunes.  I intended to try dgjtex's suggestion to restore my iPhone to the original settings.  Luckily, iTunes recognized my phone, and said it needed an updated.  My iPhone screen lit up, the phone was updated, and now its fine.  Whew!
Thanks to everyone on this page for your suggestions--they all helped me.

1. First, Open up iTunes, plug in your iPod Touch/iPhone to the CPU's USB port. Turn on your CPU's speaker and make sure it is loud enough that you can hear it.

2. Hold down the Home button (top left for iPod Touch and top right for the iPhone with the screen facing you) and the Power button (located on the front bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone) simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off. (past the red slider/slide to power off screen)

3. Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.

Just got second hand ferrari 1100 and it just has black screen?Used F8 to get the harddrive light and put CD in which is spinning but still black creen also tried external screen?HELP PLSE?

If your external monitor isn't working, it may be your graphics. You could open the case and search for loose connections or components. It's difficult to say without opening the laptop. Your specs say you have integrated graphics. What kind of noises? Is it coming from the HDD? the DVD rom?

Getting message error -40 cant connect to itunes on my ipod 2g a1288

4. After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device, now iTunes should recognize it in DFU mode.

5. After iTunes recognizes the iPod Touch/iPhone, let go of the Home button otherwise it will go into recovery mode and you will have to do the entire DFU process over again.

6. You will know when you have put your iPod Touch/iPhone correctly into DFU mode when the display is blank and that you do not have anything on your device.

7. Restore ipod using itunes

When i open the iphone email app,it loads a black

Try rebooting your phone by holding the home button and the on off button until the Apple comes up. If that works make sure to power your phone off once a day.

Iphone 3g screen wont come on i can hear the

You may need to try a restore. If you plug in the phone and itunes sees it try to do a restore. If it won't with the phone off hold the power and home button for 6 secs. then let go of the power button but not the home. Hold until itunes sees it and you can restore.

Power comes on but the screen stay`s black dose it have a screen lock or stand by

Black screens can be caused by many things the first bit of video runs through the ram, so try changing the ram or swaping it. the next thing that causes a black screen is the LCD Inverter or the back light bulb to test this is take a flash light and shine it on the screen at an angle and see of you can make any faint images out. Next dis-assemble the laptop and see if the processor is heating up or staying cool.

Hope this helps!

My screen IN MY IPHONE is just Black..inthere is working..

Yes, I had the same problem. Here is what to do:
Just press the home button with the close/open button for about 10 seconds. Then, there should be a blank screen with the apple logo on the center. Let the iPhone/iPod touch rest for about a minute and it should be ok.
