Grill was working fine....but only recently it ignites but when turned up to MAX and lid is closed it will only heat to about 250 degrees after 20 min - 1/2 hour..... Could it be a bad tank of gas which I just purchased from Home Depot? I have had it for about 5 years....never really replaced or cleaned anything.....except the grates which you cook on which I clean all the time.... I do notice the holes in the burners are visible..... I do not smell gas when the unit is on and it obviously is burning but not heating to anywhere near capacity? Grill is kept covered after use all the time and I do burn off the residue after cooking.....I am not at all an expert on dis-assembling so please be specific if you have any idea why this grill is not heating....I am thinking possibly a bad tank of gas even though the tank was heavy and felt full. Thanks for any help or suggestions! sudsyboy
Sudsy, this exact same thing would happen to me every time I changed a tank. I know it's nothing to do with the grill itself. I would have to seat and reseat the regulator hose to the tank a couple of times before it would start heating normally. Your model has 3 burners and I suspect that the flame is real low on each one even on the high setting. Try connecting and disconnecting the tank a couple of times and see if it comes to life. If worse comes to worse you can order a new regulator hose. Part number P3632L. Catriver..post back.
I had the same problem of "lack of heat" with this grill, and I also keep this grill covered when not in use. I found that the holes on all three burners had actually rusted closed! I used my cordless drill and cut off a bit of wire hanger (after breaking a few drill bits) to open them again. I did nothing with reseating or reconnecting the propane. I guess one way you could check is to see if your side burner has a decent size flame. At least on my grill this one isn't nearly as rusted as the 3 main burners. And at $30 a burner I will most likely keep drilling them out until I get a new grill. I can't believe I paid $450 for this peice of junk!
My Kenmore only reaches 100 Degrees after 20 minutes, its like my knobs turn gas on but will not raise flame too high, medium or low, plus my push igniter does not work (red button in middle of grill). Where can I buy a new igniter for my 5 yr. old Kenmore Elite, stainless steel model? I live in Milwaukee, WI. Ps. I changed my tank and that was not the issue, the one I turned in must of been half full, One of my indicaters doent work either, the round tank gauge for empty or full on right hand side. It's kind of like this grill was made half A@$! This happened last year I now want to fix it. It's frustrating I bought the grill not to long ago never used it for the first couple years and the grill looks perfect but not a single thing seems to be working, pleas guide me in the right way to fixing my grill. Much Appreciated, I'm hungry:) It would be grate to find a place near me that sells parts or does the warranty still applict?

RIGHT ON !!!!! THANKS A MILLION!
That seemed to be the problem.....I really appreciate the quick reply and remedy. It heated up immediately after re-seating the tank and re-connecting the regulator hose.
Thank You so Much for saving me time and $$$$.

I am having the same problem with the gas grill not getting hot enough (only up to 250 degrees). I have tried reconnecting and readjusting the gas tank sevral times. Surprisingly, it worked the forst time I did this. However, it has not worked since then. I am not sure if I need to I need to have a Sear repair guy 1-800-469-4663) assess the problem and try to fix it at my home or if I should just buy the new regulator hose (Part number P3632L) as was suggested by the other person. Does any one have any recommendations? Thanks.
