Duo Therm Quick Cool A/C fan motor cycles from low to high

My neighbor in the RV park has a Duo Therm Quick Cool high performance by dometic A/C unit. She tells me that years ago she had a heating element installed. When the unit is running the motor runs very slow and kind of groans. Then the motor will kick in to high, but then it will return to low and stay there for a few minutes and then return to high. And so goes..it just keeps cycling from low to high all the time it is running. The same set of events happen whether the thermostat is set to A/Cor to heat.
I tried setting the thermostat to high, medium, and low fan speeds but it does the same exact cycling thing.
I went topside and removed the shroud and the cover for the electronics and saw a circuit board, a capacitor and what looks like a relay. I was wondering if any of these electronic parts could be causing the problem. Thanks for your website. Bill Feliciano in Anaheim, CA

My RV ac works find when started up, blows plenty of cold air.after awhile ,it would seem to bog down, and blow very minimum cold air.the compressor will not shut down, possibly because it can't the cooling level that it was set for. model # 59136621

Have a duo therm ac and the low ac and low fan not work -

Thermostat on wall, or manual controls at AC? Did it work for you on low before now? Reason I ask, is that normally they are only a 2 speed fan ( low and high) so if it's a wall thermostat and has been changed from original, perhaps it the way the thermostat is wired.

need to get at the capacitor for the fan. Try spinning blower when it hums. If it runs then the cap is bad if not the motor.

Duo-therm by dometic ac rv unit

I suspect that you have a bad selector switch for the on, off, low fan, high fan operation. If the selector switch is put into the off position everything should stop completely.
