Proplems with my Motorola Z10 phone

Hi, i bought this phone today and after the initial proplems i put my memory card in from my previous phone which i was told by the guy in the shop would be compatable, however i cannot find anything on the memory card, i go to the main menu then went to file manager, it then gives you the option to use phone memory and the memory card, i click across on to my mobile memory card and i know i sound so stupid but its showing as 6 things in my audio card, 6 in my video, 6 in my document and 6 in my other folder when i know i have a lot more then that on my memory card, i even put it in another phone to check and its showing up on that, i know its confusing but any ideas please???

Had the same problem with Z10 and a Nokia 3310. I got around it by backing up the memory card, then inserting in the phone and using "Format Card" option. It then puts on the required file structure and you can copy back the files to the relevant folders.

Motorola phone

Hi,

Initially, pls try to remove the battery. If that does not work, have the firmware updated. Sine this is not a user action, you would need to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Motorola Z10 "right soft key" seems to be locked as a short cut to the O2 wap side and there is no way to change it.Could you please tell me how to change that key to be short cut to the Contacts???

This is o2's fault - the firmware (the software that controls this kind of stuff) is o2's version and they have disabled the option to change the function if this key - although you'll notice the manual says you can!

The only option is to change the firmware to the unbranded version that would come with a phone not bought through o2, which is easier on other motorolas, the symbian operating system is notorously difficult to tinker with

I dont have enough space to explain phone 'modding' - but you can have a look at modmymoto.com. Although I will point out that so far, it seems the stock (unbranded) frimware is not available anywhere

Memory card

Hi I had the exact same problem!! I was using a 4 gig kingston memory card. I formatted the card to 2 gigs, it still had the same problem, then i erased all the movies and reformatted it again. It seemed to work fine after that. But i have requested a replacement handset anyway due to a battery problem when i turn off the phone the battery still wastes. I got a replacement today. and i also bought a 2gig micro to replace the 4 gig just incase the phone will be having the same random problems.
