My washing machine obviously keeps on getting blocked somewhere because my washing comes out very smelly. I have lost my manual.
Am I supposed to clean some part of it. I can see no simple area. Do I have to remove the back, because that seems to be a bit over the top.
Please help. Many thanks. Ian

Re: cleaning the machine. pipe???
Are you using liquid detergent? this has the effect when used for long periods of making the machine smell like drains. if so, put on a boil wash with no clothes and revert to powder detergent.
there is a filter which needs clearing if drain is slow.to access, remove bottom panel at back. filter is located in large pipe leading from tub to pump on the lhs. undo this pipe at the tub end and the filter is inside. some water will come out so be prepared.
unplug from mains first

take the filter out of the bottom of the dishwasher and clean them.make sure that the pipes arent blocked, you can do this with a wire coat hanger, but carefully.then reassemble and get a dishwaher cleaing product and run it through the machine
this might be coming from the rubber door seal clean it all the way round make sure holes at bottom are not blocked and the rubber door seal is all clean. also clean the draw so there is no power left in there and it is all clean. also a good thing to do is run it though a cleaning cycle with normal detergent at max temperature that the machine can do. hope this helps.
I have this problem with my Siemens machine, it is due to mainly running low temp washes and bateria building up in the hoses etc. (more prevalent if the machine is connected directly to the sink and not on a stand pipe). I run a 90 degree cycle every 4 weeks with the machine empty except for two capfuls of baby sterilisng fluid (approx half a mug) I buy stores own as it is cheaper than miltons. The first time I did mine I ran the cycle twice to be sure it was cleared out. My machine is six years old and the first smelly signs were when it was about a year old, I run the maintenance wash religiously ever 4 weeks and run a machine descaler such as oust thru every 4-6 months. Hope this helps. Roni. (ps don't be tempted to use bleach as it foams up and can cause more problems!!)
Get whirlpools new affresh washer tablets. They clean the inside off the machine and kills mold ect. and if used regularly it keeps your washer smelling fresh. They are designed for front load machines but work great in top loaders too. They are available on line at any parts store and are around 8 bucks.
