The gas tank (or something in front under the gas tank) on my 2011 Harley Davidson Super Glide Custom makes loud clanking noises when I hit bumps or railroad tracks, etc. It has 12K miles on it, and did not do this for the first 11K. The tank doesn't feel loose when I try to manually shake or move it. The speedo doesn;t feel loose either. I'd hate for something to fall off hours from home on the side of the road. Any suggestions what I should look for? Thanks!

Have you checked to see if there is a recall on the bike?

Don't believe all that you read. I've seen stuff posted on some of these forums that are way on the rediculous side. If you have concerns, call Harley's Customer Service department and ask if there was a recall on anything on your bike. Have the full frame VIN number handy. I haven't heard anything about the inner primary mainshaft bearing failing or anything about a recall on that part. Usually, if you have a problem in that area, its the seal starts leaking but that's due to normal wear but I've seen bikes with 75,000 miles on them with no leaks, no bearing failures. That's basically "luck of the draw". If there is a recall on anything on the bike, and a search of the VIN number does not show that the service has already been done, Harley will pay for it. If there is no recall, Harley will NOT pay for it.
Good Luck
