Fat boy 1999, trying to re wire and it doesnt start up, one black wire hangs loose but I cant find anywhere for it to connect to. Headlights work.

There are a lot of black wires on a Fat Boy and without more information, I can't help you. I have a schematic for 91-93 FatBoy that I will send you if you will contact me directly at There are a few modifications on it but it will still give you something to work with.

First, is your bike fuel injected or carb equipped? If it's injected, there isn't much I can help you with in that area. Do you have a spark? Does the starter turn the engine over? I need a LOT more information.

My 93 Fat Boy sat for awhile and wouldnt start

I don't want to sound like "Chicken Little" here. I would in light of the potential possible issues strongly recommend taking your bike to shop you are comfortable with.
You just asked for what we think, the number of items that could be damaged are long, and with the bike sitting up for a while you may have other items that would need to be addressed to get it going. This may be one of those times where dropping it off at the shop is the best thing to do.
Hope this helps,

How do you go about checking for dirt in the carburetor jet of a 93 Harley Fat Boy?

Take the carburetor out and clean it. Often the dirt is too small to see.

93 fat boy will not continue to run once started and wont restart

sounds like a fuel supply problem it probably has some build up in the fuel system from sitting so much, if it has a screen in the bottom of the tank it could be clogged with sediment from the fuel sitting. or in the filter if it has one could be clogged with old gas or dirt particles. Clean the tank if needed, unhook fuel line at engine and make sure there is flow from the tank. I sometimes blow air through the line back up to the tank to back wash any problems.

good luck
