The screan is dark on the top and bottom and color is strong
The screen comes on and it shows the picture but at the top and the
bottom its black like the picture is being pulled in to the middle
...and the color is really strong and bright....i have cleaned the
mirror and the 3 lenses and now the picture is more clearer but the
color is still bright and tv still haves the black on the top and the
bottom......maybe i need to re-in just the mirror.....can you please
Re: The screan is dark on the top and bottom and color is...
This not the correct Model #, this model is a DLP set and does not have picture tubes and associated lenses. Did you remove the mirror? Does your set have a fold in back? I suspect the back is not fully out in the correct viewing position.

Either the power supply board is failing and needs repair or a bad bulb in the screen is causing it. You would have to open it up to get a better idea.
Here's some info:
SURE ALL POWER is DISCONNECTED For at least 5 minutes PRIOR TO WORKING ON
inverters. If your picture wasn't
pinkish or dark at the top or bottom when it was working, then it may be the
inverter has gone bad. Inverters are like light bulbs and have life
expectancies on the capacitors. If your picture was
pinkish or dark at the top or bottom when it was working then you may have 1 or
more of the bulbs failing. You can check for
pinkish if your screen flashes.
What you do is when you have it open to the point of getting to the wires that
hook to the back of the lcd screen is to disconnect only the wide ribbon that
goes from the video board to the back of the screen. Then start it and check
the screen flash color.
These come apart a little different than most. The front trim comes off with
the screen. So essentially you are removing the back case first:
Once the four screws are out of the rear corners there are snap tabs that need
to be released between the silver trim and the back black plastic (three top
and bottom and two on left and right.)
You can use a thin knife blade to help release them as you separate the silver
from the back plastic Black part has to be bent outwards to release these tabs.
Then entire guts will come out with the screen ., then the inverter is under
the center area under the metal cover.
Shout if you need more info.
If you email me a good picture of the inverter in the area of the larger yellow
square component and one from underneath , behind the two small yellow square
components, I may be able to get a better idea if it is the inverter from a
visual. Email : email@example.com
Rca Screen ControlThese sets have screen control adjustment usually located behind the speaker grill(pops off -velcro or press tabs) and convergence front board. There are 6 contols on a black molded assembly about 31/2"x21/2" square. adjust only the top controls marked "Screen R G B" the bottom ones are focus Method: -turn on set and let warm up for 30 min at least -switch tv to blank unused video input channel -adjust each control in turn until you see the picture glow (with the corresponding color) and slightly back off the control - repeat for each color - this will increase screen brightness and ballance your color Hope this helped.
Sounds like you may have a bad LCD backlight or inverter. When the screen is dark, take it into a dark area and see if you can see the screen dimly showing. Or, shine a flash light on the screen and see if you can make out anything showing up. Try this and let me know what you find. Ron
you know it sounds like the same problem i had....
look this is something you can try.... "turn the tv off and unplugg it!!!"...you'll need to take out the lower front part of the tv......(where the speakers are to be exact) on each lower end you will find 2 screws..Be careful it will open to the side and there are many wires, i suggest you mark them to know where to put them back...then right in the middle there will be a black cover with about 5 screws..take them out....and look at the very bottom you'll see a thing with 6 pegs....the top ones are for the screen "DO NOT TOUCH THEM"...the ones on the bottom are for the colors...re adjust them...the left one it's for blue, the middle one it's for green and the last one it's for red...
I had the same problem after i moved....and after i re adjust that the tv looks super...
i hope that helps..:P
Sounds like a bad screen asy, part number 204809,must use the generic,or you could have weak tubes,if so you may just need to turn up the screen drives, this part is located in the right top of the set with the back removed,if no cracks are present adj. the three marked screen's,turn the color all the way down in your menu and adj. for a black and white picture.
