EMERSON 0.9 cubic foot microwave won't start.#MW8992SB

There are 2 small icons at the top of the control panel that are lit in red. One is at the far left that looks like the microwave symbol and the other is the 2nd from the right, it looks like a hot plate with steam coming up from it. Can someone tell me what the symbols stand for and what part needs replacement? The fuse is good..

These symbols are addressed in your owner's manual.

    If
for some reason you don't have your owner's manual,
    many Emerson microwave
owner's manuals are available for free download
    here.

    Even though
yours may not be there, there might be one close enough to help you

Also, your subject line was cut off, so please reply
back with your detailed symptoms and your model number.

Apparently, it could mean a number of things, but in my case, it meant taking it in for repairs because some part got damaged. You might want to contact the company as we did.

Hey JT Tai, I appreciate your post!
The symbol at the top left hand side of your display could be child lock symbol or vent symbol. If it is the child lock you should be able to press and hold the stop/cancel button down for 3 seconds to release the child lock.

If the light is on for the vent I would seek assistance from a professional for proper diagnosis and repair to be completed on your microwave. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

If this is a .5-.7 cubic foot cheapy, your only source will likely be an appliance boneyard. Otherwise, check with searspartsdirect web site using the model # for replacement parts. You can also check with Emerson web site {I beieve it is part of the Funai electrical empire}

A small blinking light on the left upper corner of panel after a power outage and I can't do any command. The interior lights don't even come on when opening door. I already reset the breaker

Unplug the microwave oven for 10 minutes in a attempt to reset the microprocessor ic, press and hold the start button for the same time and release. Now plug everything back in hopes it will restart, if no change! the keypad control board will need to be replaced along with other unknown parts, due to the nature of damage far cheaper to replace.

Panel problem

Hello

Unplug the microwave from the wall outlet prior to disassembling.

Open the microwave door. Remove the screws securing the grill above the door opening to the microwave. Remove the grill.

Remove the screw located at the top of the control panel, which is now visible with the grill removed.

Lift the control panel up to release the tabs securing it in place. Move it away from the microwave.

Look at the rear of the control panel to any disconnected wires that may have caused the control panel to stop functioning. If wires are disconnected, reconnect them, reassemble the microwave and determine if the problem is still occurring. If the problem still occurs, replace the control panel.

Transfer the wires from the old control panel to the new control panel.

Move the panel back against the microwave's control panel housing. Slide it down to lock it into position.

Install the screw at the top of the control panel.

Replace the grill on the top of the microwave. Secure it using the screws that were removed.

Restore power to the microwave.

Emerson microwave MW8992SB Just nothing. No clock no light. worked last night.Has electricity to it.

The main fuse has blown inside the microwave, the most common reasons are, one or more of the door switches is defective, the high voltage capacitor has shorted, or possibly the high voltage diode, and sometimes it just the fuse. I recommend a tv tech or appliance repairman because there are dangerous high voltage present.

Kid put mom's curling iron in microwave. Turned it on and now nothing. No lights, nothing. Is there a fuse to check? Maybe it is too far gone? Thanks

there is very high voltage present even when disconnected from mains. unplug from mains & leave for 1 hour. remove cabinet. there is a fuse which controls everything usually located near the transformer or where the mains cable enters. check fuse and replace. it needs to be the correct fuse for the appliance
There should also be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Once you remove the control panel assembly, the fuse is located in a holder behind that area toward the top. The tech sheet shows part locations
