A hard reset of the printer may clear the error. Here is how to perform the hard reset:
1.Shut down the computer.
2.Open the top cover of the printer and remove the print cartridges.
3.Close the top cover of the printer.
4.Press the power button on the printer to turn the printer off.
5.Disconnect the communications, (USB or Parallel), cable from the back of the printer.
6.Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer for one minute.
7.Reconnect the communications cable to the printer.
8.Reconnect the power cable to the printer.
9.Press the printer power button to turn the printer on.

Will not print text only images

OK - here is all the help I can give to someone who won't respond to questions.

Are you confident the new cartridge is full and in-date? Can you confirm that the old cartridge was not removed until immediately before the new cartridge was installed. Did you remove the yellow tape from the new cartridge before you installed it? Was the black cartridge change properly completed such that an ink charging cycle occurred.

If you have already done lots of head cleans with no result, and you're sure you have a good ink cartridge properly installed, then you can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean again. If still nothing, report back

hello.

with the printer ON, lift the scanner/top to access the cartridges. remove the ink cartridges. lift the gray tab gently with thumb and index finger of one hand. gently pull the print head up and out with the other hand. install new print head back first, then press target with thumb gently until you hear snap/click. reinstall ink cartridges.

Kodak printer

Hi Tammy,

Installing the print head is really easy. Actually, it just snaps out and the new one snaps in. The key is where you press on the print head to do this. If you go to the following URL you will see how to accomplish this. Go to:

http://www.kodak.com/global/plugins/acrobat/en/service/manuals/AiOPrinters/5300AiOPrinterUG_EN-US.pdf

This shows you how to change the print head in a 5300 model. It is similar to the others as well.

If this does not work for you. contact the 800 421 6699 number and ask them to walk you through installing the print head. It will only take a couple of minutes.

Best regards,

Ron Baird

Black ink

Leanne83 and jzig - I presume your problems are solved by now. If not, please respond with a new comment.

Have you carried out any head cleaning cycles? If not, do it. Have you done a nozzle check print? If not, do it. Any sign of black ink? Yes, but not perfect? If so do a couple more head cleans and nozzle checks. If still not perfect, let it rest for 24 hours to disperse air bubbles. Then repeat.

Carefully push the print head by hand fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try up to 3 head clean/nozzle checks again. If still nothing, post a new comment with full details of what you have done and the results.
