Question about Bose Companion III Computer Speakers

Bose Companion 3 Series II not working (Mac)

Hi, I have an iMac and I just recently installed the Companion 3 speakers. I checked every cable, double-checked with the manual to see if I did anything wrong... But everytime I try to plug the speakers in, nothing happens; as in, the sound works fine without them but when I plug them in the sound just dies. I am not using any cables that didn't come with the speakers. Please help!
It should also be noted that I plugged the system into the Headphone slot. I wondered if this was the problem but I see no other slots for speakers or sound-related hardware.

I have the exact same problem that you described Eric. I just took my Bose Companion 3's out of the package, hooked up everything exactly as described (I've re-done the assembly a couple of times and re-checked every connection) and it doesn't make a sound. I can see that there's power to the speakers. I can also see that my iMac headphone jack works because if I plug headphones into the jack I can hear music.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. There are no drivers for these speakers, incidentally - they're speakers, you just plug them in and they're supposed to play.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Eric, did you ever solve the problem?

It's 2009, stupid me thought computer speakers would be plug & play. Duhhhh. All jokes aside; like the others with the same problem, I connected my 'brand new' Bose Companion 3 Series II speakers perfectly and they don't play at all. What the...!!!!!

The speakers seem to be muted by default - you'll see that the LED is yellow/amber. Tap the control pod - the LED will turn green and speakers will work. I felt like such an idiot after I spent almost an hour trying to figure this out. (This feature should be more prominent in the manual.)

Use the cd that came with the speaker system to install the drivers. If it didn't come with an install disc then check the Bose website to see if they have driver downloads for this system.

Want to use my current speakers with a new surround sound system. Current system is 5.1 channels, rated at 100w per channel @ 8. Ohms. New System is rated 145watts, 5.2 channels at 6 Ohms. Will b ok?

Hi Ronald.
8 Ohm speakers will work just fine as replacements for the
6 ohm speakers. When fitting speakers you need to consider
The power handling capability. The impedance and the frequencies
involved. Power handling is expressed in wattage ie 100W.
Unfortunately this can be expressed in rms, max or peak music. The rms value (root mean square) is the only really relevant figure as this is the continuose handling power at 1 KHz. The impedance
is the resistance that the amp sees but is not a dc resistance and
varies with frequency. The lower the impedance the more power
will be drawn from the amp. In the event of a short circuit across
the speaker the amp will try to deliver infinite power into an infinitly
small load in an infinitesimal amount of time and will self destruct.
Using an 8 Ohm speaker draws less power than a 6 Ohm speaker.
Connecting speakers in parallel; results in the impedance beingreduced. For example two 8 Ohm speakers in parallel will result
in a 4 Ohm impedance load but in series will be 16 Ohms.
Incidentally the the .1 (5.1) is the sub woofer which only has
to handle the bass frequencies, a small percentage of the
amplifiers overall frequency response..
Connect your speakers and then power up the amp last
after double checking there are no shorts on the speaker
cables.
All the very best from Vintie.

Once you open the speaker it will destroy the acoustic properties and make the speaker useless. The speakers are assembled with takp and glue and have to be pried apart.

How to connect speakers to sony dts receiver strde935

The front and centre speakers need bigger cable, so the 3 pair of connectors can take thick wires. The satellites need tulip plugs, because they need less power. c7118031-3f7f-4f21-84a9-bff8010fd3d2.png

How to connect speakers logitech z 5500 to the TV Samsung UN32F5500 32-Inch 1080p 60Hz Slim Smart LED

Hello there!
I have seen manuals of both the systems. You have two options to connect Logitech z5500 speakers to Samsung UN32F5500 TV.
1. With Optical Audio Cable.

2. Stereo Ear Phone Connection.
Simply plug in Green earphone cable of Logitech Speakers to Green Audio out Jack described on Page 7 of the TV manual. If you are using stereo EP you may not experience 5.1sound separation. And it is also mentioned that you should not use other two audio cables of the tri-EP-cable provided with Logitech speakers.

Have a nice day!

BOSe Wave Radio - Disk "not readable"

I had the same problem with the disk unreadable error and took my unit to a authorized repair dealer about 100 miles from where I live to have it fixed. It ended up costing me about $300 to have the CD unit totally replaced which is almost as much as I paid for the unit in the first place. I am like a lot of you that used the CD very little although the unit was about 3 years old. I think Bose has a problem and would like us to think it is very rare. I bought a Lifestyle surround system about 14 years ago that has a CD and have never had a problem with it so needless to say I am very disappointed in the Wave II Radio/CD system. I am fairly certain the problem will occur again, but only time will tell.

Sound problem with JBL Creature II

I had a problem with the speakers not working properly. The green lights lit, but the amount of sound coming from the speakers compared to that of the sub was much lower.
I decided to take it the speakers apart.
I found that the magnets on the speakers had moved forward slightly in the plastic cage they sat in. I pushed them back as far as they would go, and Hey Presto! working again!
I hope this helps someone!
