Computer won't come out of sleep

Sleep Mode Problems on a Dell Computer b> When Microsoft patched the power-saving features of Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista, certain Dell computers were affected by various issues where the computers would go into sleep mode and be unable to come out of it or error out and not go into sleep mode. Sometimes the computers would go into sleep mode and wake up only when a USB mouse was jostled. Pressing keys on the keyboard would not wake the computer because the keyboard would stop functioning

Open the Dell support page on your Internet browser. See the link Below . http://support.dell.com/ Make sure to have your seven-digit alphanumeric (letters and numbers) service tag. Place that information into the "Choose by Service Tag" option. Make sure that the option for the "Operating System" is correct. Go to "+Bios" and click on the "+" symbol. Click on "Download" at the far right, save and run the downloaded file. Restart your computer after installing the file. Test the "Power-saving" feature once you have rebooted. b> If Section I Does Not Resolve the Issue Go to "Display Properties" by right-clicking in an open area on your desktop and left-clicking on "Properties." Click on the "Settings" tab. Check if the "Display" midway down is saying "Plug and Play Monitor on..." If it is not, go to the "Device Manager." Left-click on the "X" in the top right corner of the "Display Properties" menu. Go to "Start," left-click, and then open the "Control Panel" (or "Settings" and then "Control Panel" depending on your system is set up). Select "System," go to the "Hardware" tab, and left-click on it. Left-click on "Device Manager" about 1/3 of the way down that page. Look at "Monitors" and see a "+" symbol. Left-click on it once and see if it has an exclamation point,"!," with a yellow circle around it. If it does, right-click on the "Plug and Play Monitor" and left-click on "Update Driver." Choose "Yes, this time only" and then left-click on "Next." The wizard will update the monitor drivers automatically, if possible. Restart if necessary once updated. Test the"Sleep" mode again. The computer should go into sleep mode and then wake up successfully. b> If Section I and II Do Not Work Left-click on "Start" and then "Control Panel" (or "Settings" and then "Control Panel," depending on your system's setup). Double-click on "Power Options" to open it. Open the "Hibernate" tab and click on "Enable Hibernate." You may have to reboot again. Test the "Sleep" mode function again. b> Windows Vista Open the Dell support page in your Internet browser. See the link Below. http://support.dell.com/ Make sure to have your seven-digit alphanumeric service tag. Place that information into the "Choose by Service Tag" option. Make sure that the option for the "Operating System" is correct. Go to "+Bios" and click on the "+" symbol. Click on "Download" on the far right. Save and run the downloaded file. Restart the computer after installing the file. Test the "Power-saving" feature once you have rebooted. b> If Section IV Doesn't Work b> Reboot the system and press "F2" or "Del" to get into Bios. Make sure that the "Legacy USB" option is enabled. Save and exit the Bios and start Windows Vista. Go to "Start" and then "Control Panel." "Switch to Classic View" on the left side. Click on "Power Options." Click "Change Plan Settings" and then "Change Advanced Power Settings." Set the "Sleep>Sleep After" to "Never." Set the "Sleep>Allow Hybrid Sleep" to "Never." Set the "Sleep> Hibernate After" to one minute after the monitor and hard drive are set to turn off. Set the "Power" button and "Lid>Start" menu power button" to "Hibernate." Restart the computer and test the "Power Sleep" mode. b> If Section IV and V Do Not Work b> Find the "Windows" sidebar at the bottom right corner. Right-click on it to disable it. Test the "Sleep" mode again. If the computer does go to sleep, enable the "Windows" sidebar by going into the "Control Panel" and enabling it again. Start turning off each gadget one by one, and test the "Sleep" mode to see which gadget is causing the problem. Look at the system and see if you have a "Google" sidebar." If you do have Google sidebar, then pick only one to use, or choose not to use either of them. To remove the "Google" sidebar, left-click on "Start," then left-click on "Control Panel." Double-click on "Programs and Features." Wait for the computer to populate installed software on your computer. Find the "Google" sidebar and remove it by left clicking on it and left click "Uninstall." If you want to remove the "Windows" sidebar, right-click on it, left-click on properties to open "Properties," then remove the check from the "Start Sidebar When Windows Starts," selection and click "OK." Disable Sleep Mode Microsoft Windows 7 uses sleep mode for desktops and laptops to save power during times when the computer is not in use but does not need to be shut down. Sleep mode pauses and suspends your computer until you are ready to continue. In some cases, sleep mode interferes with scheduled tasks or operations such as remote desktop connections. Microsoft allows sleep mode to be turned off and disabled for users that have no need for the function or find that the feature is interfering with their normal computing activities.

Click the "Start" button to expand the Windows "Start" menu. Select "Control" panel in the right column of the "Start" menu and click "System and Security." Click "Power Options" and press the "Change Plan Settings" link next to your computer's currently selected power management plan. Select "Never" from the "Put The Computer to Sleep" drop-down menu. Select "Change Advanced Power Settings" beneath the "Change Settings For The Plan" heading. This launches a "Power Options" panel. Double-click "Sleep" in the menu tree to expand the advanced "Sleep" options. Select "Sleep After" and use the arrow to select "Never." Select this option for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In" if you are configuring power options on a laptop. Click the small "plus" icon next to "Hibernate After" to view hibernation settings. Click the arrow to select "Never." Select "Never" for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In" if you are configuring your power options for a laptop. Click "OK" to close the advanced power options. Select "Save Changes" to save your new power management configuration. Your computer's sleep mode is disabled.

Hope it helps.

How to uninstall the chavibes application???

You can check out Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Control Panel > Programs And Features (Vista / 7) and try finding 'Chatvibes' there and Uninstall it.

If you are unable to find it there then you can Disable it (Firefox only) by going to Add Ons and click the disable/Uninstall button next to Chatvibes App Addon.

How do I get the little temperature icon to stay on my task bar? I used ot have it, but it is gone now!

Is it a detached Weather gadget from your Windows Sidebar? If you have the Windows Sidebar icon on your Notification area (system tray), right click on it then click "Open"(or Bring gadget to front). Your Sidebar should appear on the Desktop. If you don't have the Temperature gadget showing click on the "+" sign on the top of the sidebar. Double click on the Weather gadget. Then you can drag it to a location you want on the Desktop (or you can right click > Detache from Sidebar). To change the current temperature location, right click > Options, type your location on the "Search for location" box.

( OR )

If it is NOT a 3rd party gadget that you downloaded from the web, then just click the + sign at the top of the sidebar ( sometimes it's on the side ), a popup box will open up, showing a list of gadgets. Tempwerature shold be there.
Right click at it > click Add.
It will re-appear at the sidebar.

0xc0000005 application failed to initialized proplerly) (click on OK to terminate the application) how to uninstall google chrome. google chrome does not uninstall whenever i try to uninstall it.

this is a common windows error. if a certain application stops working like your google chrome. try to edit start up items, click on start, click run, on the run box type : msconfig. click ok. on the start up tab, click on disable all on the bottom right, hit apply or ok. it will give you a prompt to exit with restart. this is for xp, if its vista more likely the same but after restarting the computer, no prompt for system configuration utility will pop up. to unisntall the google chrom, if its xp go to add remove programs and click remvoe, if you have vista, go to program and features and uninstall it from there, if no go. use the microsoft installer clean up utility. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 just download and install it then look for it under programs and it will gie you all the programs installed on your computer, you can look for google chrome and uninstall it. that should work.

Error Code 0x80004005

The issue is with google earth, is a fault in the software that comes up with certain windows installation.

I report from Google groups:

"
It sounds like Google Pack might be having an issue with installing
Google Earth. You can try downloading Google Earth directly at
http://dl.google.com/earth/client/current/GoogleEarthWin.exe

If you're unable to download anything with Google Pack, you may want
to try looking in the awesome Google Pack Help Center for more
information. You can find the Google Pack Help Center at
http://www.google.com/support/pack/?hl=en"

Also do the following, install it manually from

Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add Program from CD/Floppy Diskette

thanks

I ran into this problem at some point, I'd try and re-registers some dll's..
Do the following:

Start/Run -- type "CMD" black DOS screen opens up, then type the following:

regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Uninstall the gadgets and re-install them. Let's hope this works.
