didn't work.  printer can not find driver under: Print using...
    the name does NOT appear

  • pmollica Dec 20, 2008

the one thing i did NOT do was reset the printer. i'm not willing to reconfigure all the printers I've got set up. i know there will be a problem when i go to do reconfigure them, so i'm not going to delete them.

this should work without my having to reset the printer utility.

its a plain old pictureMate, no other model number. i have picked the correct download for intel- based, v.3.0aas.  i just downloaded the printer driver on another persons mac (leopard) and it found the driver immediately. but it does not find it on my computer. the printer worked fine on the other computer, so its not a hardware problem, just this driver issue

  • pmollica Dec 21, 2008

I did everything you told me to do, including resetting the print utiltiy and it still does NOT see the printer driver! its still asking me to choose one, rather than automatically selecting the driver i just downloaded - i'm about to get rid of this printer, its not worth all the time i'm putting into this! it just plain does not work. thanks for your help but this printer is going in the trash, its taken up my entire day trying to solve this

nice, one more thing - look under the picmate

    unit model starts with PM

here's the step for PictureMate Deluxe (Tiger on Intel) remove, download, install

    ****************
Please follow the steps below to completely remove and reinstall a downloaded driver for your printer in OSX.4

    DEVICE REMOVAL

    1. Open the MAC HARD DRIVE, APPLICATIONS folder, UTILITIES folder, PRINTER SETUP UTILITY.
    2. Highlight any listings of the Epson drivers and select DELETE.
    3. Close the PRINTER SETUP UTILITY.

    REMOVE FILES

    1. Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    2. Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    3. Double click on the PRINTERS folder.
    4. Drag the EPSON folder to the trash can.

*NOTE* If you receive an access denied error message, this indicates that you do not have root access. You will need to contact Apple for assistance on obtaining Root Access.

    5. Close any open windows.
    6. Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.
    7. Double click on the LIBRARY folder.
    8. Double click on the RECEIPTS folder.
    9. Delete any Epson Receipts.
    10. Close all windows that are open, and restart your computer.

NOTE: The following procedure will remove all printers that you have installed on your computer. If you have multiple printers on your system, you will need to re-add all your printers once this is complete.

    1. Make sure that your printer is turned on and connected to your computer.
    2. Open the HARD DRIVE, go into the APPLICATIONS, and select the UTILITIES folder.
    3. Double click on the PRINTER SETUP UTILITY. Click on the PRINTER SETUP UTILITY Menu option at the top of the screen and click on RESET PRINTING SYSTEM. Click on RESET when prompted and then enter your system password. This will remove all printer drivers in the list and you will have to add all of them again. Now download the current printer driver.

    DOWNLOAD

Please follow the steps below to download and install your printer in OS X:
    1. Go to the websitehttp://support.epson.com
    2. Under the PRINTERS heading select Ink Jets and then your printer model.
    3. Under the Drivers & Downloads section select Macintosh. Download the most current version of the Printer Driver for your Macintosh operating system.

    INSTALLATION

    1. After download is complete, double click the icon that appears on your desktop, then click CONTINUE, then CONTINUE again, then OK on the INSTALLATION WAS SUCCESSFUL screen.
    2. Open the new folder created by the extraction process. It will appear something like epson1XXXX (X represents variable numbers).
    3. When you open this folder, you will find a file with a .DMG extension - double-click it. This will create another icon on the desktop with the name of your printer. Double-click to open the DISK IMAGE file.
NOTE: In most OS 10.3 systems the installer will perform this step automatically and you will see an INSTALLER.PKG file.
    4. Double click the INSTALLER.PKG file to start the installation process.
    5. The next menu will prompt you to ensure that you have Administrator Rights to install the printer driver. Click on the lock (if necessary) and enter your password.
    6. The actual installation process will begin. Click CONTINUE, then CONTINUE again at the SOFTWARE AGREEMENT window, then CONTINUE again, then AGREE.
    7. You will be prompted to select a disk to install the printer to. Select the appropriate Macintosh HD or OS X drive or partition and click CONTINUE.
    8. In the next window that appears, click INSTALL.
    9. You may be informed that the computer needs to be restarted after installation; click CONTINUE INSTALLATION here. The driver will now be installed and the system optimized. Restart the computer when install is complete.

    Configuration

    1. Make sure that your printer is turned on and connected to your computer.
    2. Open the HARD DRIVE, go into the APPLICATIONS, and select the UTILITIES folder.
    3. Double click on the PRINTER SETUP UTILITY. If your printer is listed correctly, close out of the windows and test your printer, as it is already installed.
    4. Click the Add tab at the top of the Printer Browser window and then select More Printers tab at the bottom of the Printer Browser window and then select Epson USB and then select your printer under Product Name. If applicable select the arrow by the Standard option under the Page Setup option and select the All option. If not simply click on ADD.
    5. Close out of any open windows and test your printer. Please make sure that you select the correct printer in the page setup and print menu of the application.
    ****************

if the above does not work - post back the exact model :)

repeat the trashing part - this part is really hard (spending a minimum of 30 minutes on the phone with it)

then reboot the mac twice, check for the folders & files before installing again.

    TRASHING PART :)

    1. Open the MAC HARD DRIVE, APPLICATIONS folder, UTILITIES folder, PRINTER SETUP UTILITY.
    2. Highlight any listings of the Epson drivers and select DELETE.
    3. Close the PRINTER SETUP UTILITY.

    REMOVE FILES

    1. Double click on the MAC HARD DRIVE.

about the printer model - very important - look under or the sides - there are 4 models of the picturemate, and we need to get the specific driver

  • monk3ybidzness
    monk3ybidzness Dec 21, 2008

the RESET PRINTING SYSTEM will only delete all registered printers in the PRINTER SETUP UTILITY but will never delete the installed drivers. You just have to add the other printers again after reboot (printers must be connected and turned on).

Trashing the EPSON folder will delete the driver installed.

the RESET PRINTING SYSTEM part is a must - verified it with both EPSON and Apple as I was looking for other ways to fix this issue.

Olympus P-440 doesn't work with Snow Leopard. What

The first thing that you need to do is to verify if your Olympus P-440 is if it's supported by Mac OSX 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). If yes, make sure that you've installed the correct driver for Snow Leopard.

You may check the link below:

http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=41942227668e7c7e22782bc2081

This link contains a driver for Mac OSX. I assume that this driver will work with all OSX (starting from Tiger to Snow Leopard). If this driver will not help, you may need to contact the manufacturer, and verify the system requirements of your printer.

Thank you and good luck!

Got a snow leopard udate on my mac. Also have a Z2400 series lexmark printer how can i get a update on the drivers

Generally if your printing postscript, you don't need to update the drivers on a Mac. But there are new drivers available for download on the website here. that said, there is not any difference between the Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard versions of the driver...or much difference in the Linux driver for that matter. If what you have works, don't obsess over upgrading. They all work.

Hp laserjet won't print under leopard.

Have you updated to the latest driver, I'm not sure the original driver for "tiger" would necessarily work with "leopard". There is an updated universal driver for all OS X versions.
Just a suggestion.

Tally 8008 not printing mac OSX 10.5.6 leopard

Found a solution. We connected 8008 printer to imac running Tiger & we can now print via network on any of our emacs running Leopard. Not ideal but at least we can now use the printers. I would still love a dedicated driver to work direct but I suppose this will do for now.

Scanner won't operate on HP PSC1410 All in one with Leopard

Hi, as per HP's support page on this product here

It seems that there aren't any drivers compatible with Leopard for this printer at the moment. The latest OS supported is Mac OS X Tiger... You will have to wait untill HP do something for leopard...
