Camera no longer goes to the add new images screen when prompted, and the batteries go down after 1 or 2 pictures are taken.

My dsc t700 does not turn on. Is there a solution for this? Battery is fully charged at 4.2 volts dc.

The voltage across a battery isn't really the thing to look for. It's the amperage available from the battery which counts. An almost flat battery can still read it's correct votage but as soon as a load is put on the battery, as when you turn on your camera, the voltage could well drop to almost nothing. Your charger could say that your battery is charged and ready to go but due to old age and many charge cycles or even a cell dying could cause insufficient amperage to turn the camera on.
What I recommned is borrowing a battery pack from a friend if you know someone with the same model camera and trying it or even buy a new battery from Ebay (they are cheap enough), charge it for the recommended 15 hours for the first charge and try it. If the camera operates correctly your problem is solved and believe me a large percentage of camera problems are caused by dud batteries.

If this approach doesn't work then a trip to the repair shop may be in order.

The menu light is blinking green and will only stay on about a second. Turns off before u can do anything

either your battery is dead or it should be replaced. try recharging the battery for 8 hours and check it again. it it doesn't work then check the battery's voltage level using a voltmeter. it its less than 5.3V and fast dying replace the battery.

My Pentax optio E40 8.1 MP batteries keep dying afer 20 pics???

Try cleaning the contacts by breathing and rubbing, if this doesn't work, put a LITTLE BIT of alcahol on a cotton swab, and clean.

How do I know if the battery is dead?

Apart from using a voltmeter, you could put the battery into a similar device. If the battery doesn't work in the other device, but the battery from THAT device works in your camera, odds are it's dead or dying.

Battery keeps dying

Most likely the charging circuitry has failed. When you fully charge the new battery what does the battery meter read on the camera? Your two options no matter what the case are repair vs. replacement. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thanks,
