Ice maker not working - Frigidiare refridgerator Model number FRS26BH6CB4
I have a Frigidaire refridgerator with a filetered water and ice maker system. Recently we discovered that there wasn't any water coming from the water filtration system and no ice was being made. I finally got the water to work by changing the filter and making sure the Household and and Saddle water lines were on. After all that, I noticed that there was air, no, it actually looked like there the water wasn't fully going through the ice maker water line. I figured it might be because there was something wrong at the Ice Maker Inlet value or that there was frozen ice clog coming through the tube that fills the well. Sure enough - there was frozen ice in the tube, I think because there wasn't any water flowing through the fill tube. I finally melted the ice with a blow dryer and the ice slid out. Yet, the water still did not come in. Onto the ice maker inlet at the bottom of the applicance. I unscrewed the inlet only to find out that there wasn't any water coming out. Yet, there is water being fed to the water filter. I think I narrowed down the issue to the ice maker inlet valve. What do I do next?

Any chance you may have the model number of that refrigerator that you're having problems with the ice maker? Appliance 911 Sea Breeze there are some ice makers that you can repair but as far as cost is not worth it ice makers wear out after several years there's a lot of work involved in making ice just replacing the part that broke doesn't fix the rest of the Ice maker
Here is a simple tip that may help you decide what is causing this problem. If the ice maker has no ice cubes in the slots fill with tap water and allow water to freeze. If the ice maker cycles and drops the ice into the ice bin and then does not refill with water the problem is the 241734302 Water Inlet Valve (providing that the model number above your post is correct) If the ice maker only sits there with ice in the slots and does nothing the ice maker is the problem 5303918277 Ice Maker Assembly Testing the water control valve is as follows. I will be here to answer any questions you may have, Thanks Sea Breeze
The water and ice maker are two seperate water control valves built onto the same. Your water control valve for the ice maker may be defective and require that you change the set. Fill ice maker with tap water and allow the water to freeze. If the ice maker dumps the ice into ice bin and then does not refill then this points to the water control valve. If the ice maker does nothing after water freezes then the problem is the ice maker. Send me a model number and I will look up the part numbers for you, Thanks, Sea Breeze
If the water leak is down the back or ctr its the drain line going to the underside of the fridge. If its down the side where the ice maker is its the ice make is not level if no ice maker your tray under the freezer may be leaking instead of draining.
refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one
for the water dispenser (if equipped). the valve that the ice-maker relies on
may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself. another thing that could cause it would be
the temperatures in the freezer. the ice-maker will not
call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. also check the
water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more
water from entering. the water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.
If you have a cold enough temp in the icemaker a heater should then kick in to warm the plate and a motor then turns and drives the ice out. The ice maker modules can be repaired, but the checks need to be carried out by fridge guys. Alternatively you can replace the whole module but this can vary in cost quite dramatically. Hope this has been of some help.
