Question about Whirlpool LGV4634JQ Gas Dryer

GGW9868KL0 SENSEON GAS DRYER Flame comes on but clothes not dry

I have replace 2 items, the internal bias Thermistor and High limit thermistat, #42 & 43 on the schematic. Clothes do not dry, flame comes on but off in about 20 seconds then comes on again but dryer doesn't get hot enough.
Can you suggest what it may be. Is there a sensor for wetness that may not be working.

I have a maytag dryer, model # MDG4000BWW. It has...

check the high limit/cycling switch thermostat located on the heat housing ,you will need to remove the front panel to access this, then, bypass the high-limit with a jumper wire and see if the flame stays on longer,if this doesn't help, then check the radiant senser on the tube also they get dirty, you can clean the senser eye or bypass this also and see if its weak,if not then replace the 2 gas coil valves on the gas valve body as these will get weak and shut off the gas supply

My 80 series electric kenmore dyer runs but no heat

MY dryer has no heat
** UNPLUG a dryer before attempting ANY repairs. Lethal!
A dryer heater is controlled by the timer, a thermostat and a high-heat safety switch. The thermostat and safety switch are mounted on the housing around the heater.
Most likely - If the heater is blown, a visual inspection inside the heater housing will see a loose heater wire.
Next likely - Thermostat problems occur. I replace the thermostat and high-heat safety if either are suspect. Cheap, easy fix.9df7975.jpg
Least likely - Controller failure. This can be expensive ($80 - $400) so consider if you want to spend the money. A controller is actually fairly easy to change. Buy a new knob as you are likely to break it without experience and special tools.

TAKES ALONG TIME TO DRY

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

You did not mention if the dryer was even warm to the touch during operation.

The generic service manual can be found here:

http://www.servicematters.com/maytag_library/docs/RS3200007R0.pdf

I would follow the troubleshooting process in step 9 of page 21.

To gain access to the unit you will need to remove the service access panel Pg 28 of manual

Gas burner circuits steps are on page 32

A little about heat control circuits. They are series circuits and any one of the following can prevent the dryer from heating.

1. Motor switch
2. heat control
3. cycle thermostat
4. high limit thermostat
5. thermistor
6. heating element

in addition to the above

For gas burners

1. Gas valve
2. Gas safety valve
3. Ignitor
4. Flame sensor

Most dryers have at least 5 of the 6 components listed in the first set of components above. The high limit thermostat is replaced by the thermistor in newer models. Thermistors are a one time fail item and if it has opened it must be replaced.

The warranty for this dryer is as follows:

1 year full coverage

Limited Warranty

After one year from the date of original retail purchase, Amana will provide a replacement part, f.o.b. Amana, Iowa, as listed below, for any part that fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. The owner will be responsible for paying all other costs including labor, mileage, and transportation.

Second through Third Year
Amana will provide any part.

Third through Fifth Year
Amana will provide the drive motor or timer.

Third through Tenth Year
Amana will provide the cabinet assembly should the part rust through.

Lifetime
Amana will provide the Stainless Steel inner drum if so equipped.

Thanks for using FixYa.

You might want to replace the thermacouplar. Sometimes when they are going out , all will appear to be alright but as you stated it takes a long time for the flame to come back on. This sounds to me like the thermacouplar is going out.

How do I know which thermal unit is the one that shuts the dryer off when the clothes are dry? one's called a cycling thermostat, another is called a fixed thermostat and the third is called thermal...

Usually the Fixed Thermostat (also known as the High Limit Thermostat) and Thermal Cut-Out (TCO) are used in conjunction to regulate and protect the heating circuits.

The Cycling Thermostat (also know as the Internal Bias) controls the amount of heat required/desired to dry your clothes.

You need to remove the rear panel of the dryer to access the heating circuits on this model dryer. With the back panel removed, the heating circuits will be on the right hand side and the blower fan assembly is located on the left. The Hi-Limit Thermostat and TCO are located on the outside of the heater box with the Hi-Limit Thermostat mounted next to the heating element terminals and the TCO located at the opposite end of the heater box. The Cycling Thermostat is located on the blower fan housing next the Thermal Fuse. It will be the metallic round component, while the Termal Fuse will be a white plastic component.

For better clarification, you can view an exploded view diagram of your appliance at pcappliancerepair.com. If you type in your model number, all the parts I've mentioned are listed under Section 3 (Bulkhead Parts). The components are listed as follows:

Item 6 - TCO/Hi-Limit Thermostat Kit (both parts should be replaced at the same time).
Item 15 - Hi-Limit Thermostat (sold separately)
Item 23 - Thermal Fuse
Item 24 - Cycling (Internal Bias) Thermostat

If you are experiencing heating problems or longer dry times, please review the following link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

Pay particular attention to the section that discusses dryer ventilation. The majority of dryer heat related problems and failures are attributed to poorly installed, clogged, or kinked dryer ventilation. If you haven't had the ducting checked in a while, now may be a good time to do so.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My dryer works but no heat

If your dryer runs, but does not heat the following link will explain how to troubleshoot:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

The majority of dryer heat related problems are caused by poorly installed, improper, kinked, or clogged ventilation exhaust ducting. Pay particular attention to the section that discusses ventilation. Failure to ensure the dryer is properly ventilated will result in repeated failures of any components you may replace. In addtion, this can become a fire hazard.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
