SOURCE: T.V. DO NOT TURN
There could be a problem in the main power supply or perhaps the standby power supply. To me at a guess i would say there is most likely a bad capacitor in the standby power supply or there is a problem in the switch mode power supply. if you have no electronic troubleshooting skills, play it safe and take the set into a repair shop or replace it. Now a days, a 32" TV set can be had for under 200bucks. Good Luck

The shutdown circuit is turning off the tv, you can try to check the IHVT to see if it is shorted out.
You will need a schematic diagram, and a multimeter.
I can tell you from experience that this is a IHVT or a HOT problem, however it is best to troubleshoot it to find out.

SOURCE: wont turn on
sounds like the tube is out. could be the transformer but probably not. I don't recommend you try fixing this yourself.
However some rcas are funny: unplug it again and leave it unplugged for about an hour then try again.

this sometimes is quite simple to fix as it cud be a dry joint on the circuit board where the tube motor sits.
or it cud be the tube is on its way out, which wud be cheaper to buy a new tv rather than have it fixed
