I have a 1995 #1+ Husqvarna sewing machine that has the capability to embroidery. I have very old software on disk ''Husqvaran Embroidery Customizing System'' for Micorsoft Windows 95 Version 1.2. How can I get an upgrade, on CD or download, software to use on this machine. Thanks!

I actually have Windows XP not NT...sorry. But I do not the Husqvarna software installed. I have it on a floppy but my new computer only has a CD drive. Also, I tried what you suggested and got this error msg when I clicked on 'Find Compatible Hardware and Software for Windows XP". "Cannot display the page The page you are trying to view has an incorrect address and cannot be displayed. Please try another page. " Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I was able to load the Husqvarna Customizing Software Version 1.2 Windows 95 version on my computer that is running Windows XP and use it (got an external diskette drive to load up the program)...I now have the problem of not being able to write the design to the programmable card. I have the read/writer box hooked up and when I try to read the card or write to it I get the message 'no LPT port available". In the README file this is what it says:

    "NO LPT PORT AVAILABLE"
The software may be corrupt; try uninstalling and reinstalling your
Husqvarna Embroidery Customizing System. This message may also appear if another device driver is accessing the printer port.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the software that did nothing. I seem to be using the same LPT port that my printer uses. How can I tell what's using the device driver? Do I need to create another LPT port? If so how would I go about doing that? There is no software that comes with the read/writer box. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Use program compatibility wizard and you'll be able to use the same program in Windows XP also.

  • To start the Program Compatibility Wizard, click Start, click Help and Support, click Find compatible hardware and software for Windows XP, and then, under See Also in the navigation pane, click Program Compatibility Wizard.

Transferring DVD designs to USB stick for my Husqvarna Designer 1

First you need your 4D software installed on your computer (or which ever version you are using). Insert the DVD into your drive. Then open your embroidery program and then click File and Open. When the new window opens, search for your DVD drive then find the embroidery you want and click Open. The embroidery yoiu chose should open in your embroidery program with the hoop displayed on the screen. Then save the embroidery under a new name in your embroidery design folder on your computer. Then insert your USB into your computer, Open Disk Manager and Read your USB. Then click on one of the empty squares and then click File then Open. In the new window find the embroidery file you saved under a new name on your computer and choose it. It should show up in the empty square you clicked on. Then Write to your USB. Now you are ready to move your USB to your machine and the embroidery should be there. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I just bought a used Designer 1 ESS machine and I do not know how to use the dongle

You don't need a dongle for the sewing machine. You either have a dongle for the computer embroidery software in which case it goes in your computer when you've installed the software, or you have a USB stick that has the Husqvarna designs on it.

What colour is it? The USB sticks are blue, the 3D software dongles are red. Only problem is, I think the 4D software dongles are blue too!! My Husqvarna Designer 1 USB embroidery stick (blue) has "USB Embroidery Stick" written on it - have a look for that. The dongle will have Hasp or something like that written on it.

If you are pretty sure it is a USB stick, put it in your machine and turn it on. Then touch the disk/stick icon on the lower right hand side of the screen. Your machine should start to read the stick and you will get a pop-up menu where you can choose from the folders on the stick. If you don't, go into the PROG screen. Touch MENU, touch the disk/stick icon and see if the embroidery files on the stick come up then. Each machine came with a set of designs called Embroidery Disk 100 and three alphabets - Palace Script, Kaligraphia and Clarendon. These should all be on the USB stick.

In the event that it is a dongle you have, but not the software, you need to contact the person from whom you purchased the machine.

You can download the Husqvarna designs from the Husqvarna website, but you will need a Husqvarna formatted USB stick to do this. Therefore, you do need software on your computer. There are some low-cost alternatives to the Husqvarna software - Embird and Sew What come to mind. However, a Husqvarna program called 3D Disk Manager USB came with every USB Designer 1 machine, so you should have got that when you purchased the machine. This will be enough for you to load designs from the HV website and from other websites where you purchase designs.

I have viking designer 1 lookin for a sofwere to convert designs to the shv format

You need Husqvana software Disk Manager. But this is all the program does - load Husqvarna embroidery media. A better option might be Embird which is very reasonable cost and it has editing capabilities also.

You can't just copy the files to the stick, you need to do it through the Husqvarna software, which then writes the files in a format that the sewing machine can read

Embroidery stick

Four questions:
What model Husqvarna sewing machine are you using?
Are you using a Husqvarna formatted USB stick?
Is the embroidery unit attached when you put in the stick?
Is your machine using the latest version of its software?

I might be able to give some more specific help once I know the answers to the above.

Will a Husqvarna #1 Plus embroidery unit work on a Husqvarna Rose machine?

I am sorry to inform you that Husqvarna # 1 embroidery unit does not fit onto the Rose machine. The terminals on the Rose is upright, while on the H # 1 it is flat. If you want to do embroidery on the Rose, you will have to purchase the embroidery unit.

Sad but true

Embroidery stick

You need the USB Manager software to view the files. Have a look at all the software that were supplied with the machine. Load the embroidery software on your laptop and then open the USB manager.

When it opens it will show a light blue screen and grey icons to the left. Click in "disk", then click on "read disk" and you should be able to see your designs. The grey icons will turn orange were designs are stored, and the grey ones indicate empty space for more designs.

Enjoy your fantastic machine
