Call Waiting Siemens 4200

How do I switch over to a call when I'm talking. Specially call waiting, which button is it? I went through every menu option and can't seem to find it. Please help since I'm paying for call waiting and not being able to receive these calls. Thanks

Re: Call Waiting Siemens 4200

It's the "MEM" key at the very bottom right.  I had the very same question and just found the answer at

(The last paragraph of the review gives the answer.)

When you hear the beep, press and release the MEM key.  The 2nd caller's phone number appears on the screen to indicate you've been connected to the 2nd caller while the first caller is put on hold.

To get back to the first caller, press and release MEM again: the first caller's number will appear on the screen.

I don't know if there's a way to see who the 2nd caller is without actually connecting to them.

Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light stays on since VoIP

There maybe different MWI options available in the phone's set up menu on the base unit. If so, see if the different options perform differently. Your phones are probably set to "FSK" (frequency shift keying) for MWI but IIRC, U-Verse uses the "Stutter" option. Also, in addition to talking to the installer, call ATT tech support. If the problem is in the signalling they may now have programming options on their end to resolve it.

Please ..need to know how to get other call on call waiting.. cordless phone 5.8

Adding call waiting as a feature to your telephone can help you take calls that you are waiting for without having to stay off the phone until that important call comes in. With call waiting, you get a beep when you are on another call to let you know that another call is coming in. If you want to take the call, you follow the simple steps outlined in this article.
  1. ep 1 Order call waiting from your phone provider if you do not already have it. Cal waiting works best with caller ID features that give you the phone number and name of the person calling you. Phone numbers that have blocked numbers or use *67 to mask their caller ID will not show up on caller ID.
  2. Step 2 Take a call when your phone rings. While you are talking on the phone and hear a beep, you are receiving another phone call. Using your caller ID function, whether it's on your answering machine or on your handset for the telephone, see who is calling you. If you want to talk to them, quickly press your "talk" button to put the other call on hold or disconnect. Press "talk" again to take the incoming call.
  3. Step 3 Disregard the other phone call if you do not want to terminate the call you are on. The new call coming in may go to your answering machine. Or if you have the call back feature on your telephone, you can simply call *69. Your phone will dial the number of the person whose call you just missed.
  4. Step 4 Use call waiting as politely as you can. You might tell someone who you are talking to that you are expecting an important call and may have to terminate the call abruptly. Call waiting calls should be answered as quickly as you can. After four rings, most phone calls go right to the machine or people hang up. Promise to call your first caller back if you have to interrupt the call

How do you answer call waiting

Hit the flash button on the phone or hit the talk button. That will generally switch it over.

Handset won't work

I went through this exercise with a Siemens Gigaset 8800. The solution is to DE-register the handset first. Then register it with your base. This function can likely be accessed in the handset menu. The phone you purchased is apparently still registered to the previous user's base.

Can't find the button to answer call waiting - no flash button

usually one of the two keys under the display will do the trick. When the call comes in, look at the display above each of the "softkeys" It may say accetp, or switch. If not, try pressing end and talk as if hanging up and picking up again.

Key pad TALK button

I am sorry but while many phones can be opened with some common tools and a little dexterity, that phone model is manufactured and designed in a way where it cannot be opened by a consumer or even a gifted techie without destroying its integrity. It has no screws, and the method to open it without destroying it is completely based upon muscle memory and a specific tool. In addition, even if you were to open it without destroying the plastic you would clean the keys only to have them still barely work. I train technicians to open them, and I have to sit them down with bad ones that they can destroy to practice opening them without tearing them up. Once the plastic tabs that hold them together are busted, the phone won't stay together properly and then your costs just went up to replace the plastic once you finally get it to the repair facility. So the best advice I can give in this case is to send it in for repair so the keypad can be fixed and upgraded. If you go to the Siemens website, and reach the Gigaset area, look for the FAQs and they can direct you to a repair source. Their global site is pretty large, so if you get lost, you can google Siemens Cordless Repair to find a solution.

I had the same problem. I went to each handset and pushed the talk button. After I got a dial tone, I pushed it again to stop the dial tone. The message went away.

2420 Gigaset call waiting answering machine

Make sure the answering machine is turned on for both lines. To check settings: Scroll, using BACK and FWD, to desired setting. 1. Press MENU 2. Scroll to "ANSWERING SYSTEM MENU" then press SELECT 3. Scroll to "LINE 1 SETTINGS" and press SELECT 4. Scroll to "ANSWERING SYSTEM ON/OFF." Check to see if it is set to "ON," as this is the default setting. 5. Exit MENU and Repeat steps 1 thru 4 for LINE 2 SETTINGS. I don't know if you have Acrobat Reader for .pdf files but below is a link to the owner's manual for this phone. If you can, download and look at the bottom of page 79 of 116 for more help. Good luck.

My phone can not reset

I am having the exact same issue! I tested the jack with another phone and it works. It is something in the phone. I suspect there is a "clear" button somewhere - but can't find the owners manual.
