System reboots I think I got a virus in my compaq presario and I have Norton antivirus. Yeah Norton.... I ran the recovery disk which wiped out all of my documents, etc. I can run it in safe mode but it shuts down and reboots in regular mode. I am trying to find the problem. I am going to look for updated drivers next. Any suggestions?

Dear sir,
I will request you to first change your Anti virus. I have personally used Norton, and I have found AVG free version detects and clean more viruses which Norton has not notified as threat. For getting back to your PC in normal stage you may windows Restore utility. It is very useful. you can find it in Start>Programs>accessories>system tools>system restore. Please restore to a date when you think your PC was in good state.
Please rate me if you are satisfied with my answer,in case, if you want any clarification please get back to me.

My computer got wiped out including my phillips mp3 player info, now it wont reload the cd,how do I fix it? my norton says it's got a trogen virus in it.

In order to install your media player, you need to remove norton. The disk does not have a trojan virus in it. This is a common warning for Norton and it says the same thing for TurboTax software if you try and install the desktop version.

Go to your control panel and find programs & installations. Then remove both parts of norton antivirus software and reboot your pc.

Make sure you remove live updates and both parts of the anti virus software or you will be wasting your time.

Then try and install your drivers for the media player. Once installed, reboot your pc again and reinstall Norton if you wish to keep it as your choice for anti virus software.

System has a virus mbr invected by bloodhpund.mbr how do I delete this. I purchased Norton 2010 but it won't remopve the problem says it needs to be installed but can't get into system to install.

You're Acer probably has Rescue and Recovery™ installed. Rescue and Recovery is a suite of self-recovery tools to help you diagnose, get help, and recover your system.

When you set the Bloodhound heuristics in Norton AntiVirus to it's highest setting you probably ran a virus scan and saw a Norton AntiVirus alert that states that it's detected a potential threat, Bloodhound.MBR. But this is probably not a virus but the recovery software on your laptop.

Solution:

If you have IBM Rescue and Recovery and Norton AntiVirus Bloodhound heuristics are configured to the highest setting, Norton AntiVirus may alert you with a Bloodhound.MBR detection when you run a virus scan. To avoid this, configure your Bloodhound heuristics to the default setting.

To reset Bloodhound to the default setting
  1. Start Norton AntiVirus.
If Norton AntiVirus was installed as part of Norton Internet Security or Norton SystemWorks, then start one of those programs.
  2. Click Options.
If you see a submenu, then click Norton AntiVirus.
  3. Click Auto-Protect.
  4. Click Bloodhound.
  5. Click Default level of protection (recommended).
  6. Click OK
  7. Repeat steps 3-6 for Manual Scan.
In step 3, substitute Manual Scan for Auto-Protect.
  8. Exit Norton AntiVirus.

My antivirus wont activat on my laptop it was there before now it wontstart uporany other antivirus program

It sounds like you have a virus, a virus can disable your anti-virus and not allow you to install a new one.

You should either try to use-system restore, or a recovery disk,
or the recovery file that is placed on a partition of the hard drive.

Usually you have the windows disk, or the company puts a recovery file on a partition.

So, you can try these, or you can see if you can go online to Fsecure,
online and they have a free scanner , and this will remove any virus.

I bet you don;t have, G-Data, Avira, Avast ,Kaspersky, F-Secure, Norton 2009, Because if you did you would not have a problem,
these are the top anti-virus programs on the planet.
Eset,

If you have more questions just post back.

Ended a process and cant login, HELP PLEASE

Hi,

Try to boot your system in safe mode by pressing F8. Try to uninstall anti virus. Press Start>Run>Regedit> Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Delete all values of Norton Antivirus and reboot your system. Hope this will work, otherwise new windows installation will resolve this issue.

I'm having problems with WindowsXP loading at start-up

I don't think you have a virus, Norton 360 is a very good antivirus program and would have caught it. Try disabling all of the Norton 360 features then load the Windows XP disc. Sometimes anti-virus programs interfere with the processs. I am assuming you have the Windows XP original disc. This should work.

Reboot

Congrats on the fixing it yourself. Just for future reference I would suggest AVG for your anti virus. It is free and it does not slow your system down as much. If you google Free AVG you will find where to download it. Also if you run spybot search and destroy it will prevent a lot of spyware that will lead to these types of virus' on your computer.

Compaq presario recovery commands

try starting the computer with the disk in the drive, I had to run the recovery disk on my compaq a few years ago, I think the disks pretty much tell you what to do. If you want to wipe it clear and lose everything type fdisk in the start/run prompt field. Then the recovery disk puts it all back to factory .

Download tuneup2008 software and run the registry defrag, disk doctor, then reboot and install kaspersky antivirus, much better than norton and doesn't use up a lot of diskspace and memory. then scan entire PC with.
