Your set needs a new SMPS power supply board. Goto this website to see if one is available:

http://www.encompassparts.com/

Must gotto GUEST LOGIN link on the left hand side before you can access their model search. If your model does not come up, then gotto CONTACT INFO link and search though phone numbers and start calling. I've had luck on finding stuff I need by doing this.

Good luck!

Toshiba tv automatic on off

Depends on the model. Some models have energy saving feature

The unique energy saving feature is called 'Automatic Power Down'. This means the television will self-switch into stand-by if no television remote control commands are received within 4 hours. This feature is an energy saving solution for situations where the television may be left unattended for extended periods and has been enabled as the default setting.

You will see an on screen warning prior to the automatic shut down. Automatic shut down will be averted by depressing any key on the television remote control.

Use of automatic power down functions will be progressively introduced to future models in an effort to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gases.

If you would like to disable this feature you may follow the instructions below (depends on TV Model)

1. Press theMENUkey on the remote control.

2. Press theright arrow keyand highlightSETUP.

3. Press thedown arrow keyand highlightAutomatic Power Down.

4. Press theright arrow keyto change setting toOFF.

5. Press theEXITkey on the remote control.

Some models "auto shutsdown" if it doesn't detect any signal from the TV for around 15mins. Please search for this setting in the user's manual.

I hope it helps!

I use this Alba television in my bedroom and usually watch it for a little while before I go to sleep. Due to the fact that it cannot be turned off completely (always on standby unless the plug is pulled...

If the tv is not a plasma unit which are expensive to run I would not be bothered completely turning off the power. I have a power supply readout connected in the mains power and Like you I believed the hype about switching every thing off but I learnt that the cost is virtually nill. to run. For a example I have 2 moniters + 1 computer+1 printer +1 tube type TV+ clocks( all on standby) + night light and the cost is .001 cents /kilowatt hour.. IT climbs to .002 cents when the 2 fridges cut in then drops back when they cut out.. Another point is when you continually switch electronic units on and off they will suffer more failure than leaving them on stand by

What if the tv is off and the red stand by light is not on what does that mean

The red "stand by" light shows power is getting to the TV. If it is off, you may have no house power being connected. If you can get the red light to come on but your TV still does not turn on the power supply may have failed

My tv won't turn on anymore. The power light and the opc light blink twice at the same time and then the opc blinks once and it keeps doing that. Please help!

Hi

Make sure the AC cord is not loose or disconnected. Check to ensure the cord is firmly plugged into the outlet at one end, and firmly connected to your television at the other end. The AC cord connects to the television about midway across the back of the set, near the bottom of the back panel. The hole for the AC connection is shaped like a figure eight. Try powering up the TV with the cords firmly connected.

Check the "Main Power" to ensure it is on. Locate the button on the top of the television among the "Volume" and "Channel" buttons. Press the button to switch the television on. If the "Main Power" button is off the remote will not turn on the television. Wait to see if pressing "Main Power" will activate the TV.

Press "TV Power" on the remote control to power up the TV from stand-by mode. If the power light on the front of the television glows red when you press "TV Power" on the remote, press the "Main Power" button on top of the television to remove the TV from stand-by. If the TV is accidentally in stand-by mode it may not come on when pressing certain buttons.

Check the circuit board. If your set still won't turn on and you hear a clicking noise when you plug it in, you most likely have a defective circuit board.

Turn off completely - not on stand by

Does it not turn completely off when you hit the power button? If you're that adamant about saving a few cents then another option would be to dedicate a surge protector, with an on/off switch, specifically to that monitor. Try to mount or set it up somewhere convenient so you won't have to go too far out of your way to switch it on or off.
