Re: I have a protron tv that wont come on
Hello, if you need a power supply for your tv try a search engine for
your specific model.
(proton tv model number power supply)
you can also find power supply at online auction sites
cheaper than retail but its wise to get a seller that will exchange incase it is defective you never know when you buy used parts
search online you can find the one you need
then have a tech instal & service the set for you.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Your power supply is dead. You can get one from POWER-ON.COM for about $64.00 including shipping and handling. My 32 inch went dead after only one year and I just got a new power supply and it works fine.
if you look at the power supply board you will see an aluminum plate remove the four screws and 9 out of 10 times it is a diode on the board that has gone out. go to radio shack and for 83 cents you can buy one the same size. I personally have tried all the diodes that they sell and all of them that are the same size physically will work. I have three of these tv's and all of them were the same problem. I replaced the diode in each with one of each of the same physical size sold at radioshack and they have been working like new since.
The power supply is defective if your TV is one year old or more. Unfortunately there aren't any service parts available to swap the power supply module. The only option at this time will be to get the power supply repair.
I service these power supplies.

funny that no one's been able to help you, because I accidentally discovered that the power supply cord for my computer worked for my Protron PLTV-32C lcd... not sure if your model is different in someway, but you may want to try the cord from your own PC first, and if it works.
I have a Protron 32" LCD. My power supply crapped out as so many others have. There are several web sites that have the same complaints about the Protron LCD TV. Most of them refer to a bad power supply. A replacement power supply is almost impossible to get. However, I found that some people had their power supply repaired by a man in California. They even posted a link to his email address. I live in New york, but I figured, what else have I got to lose? If this doesn't work, I need a new TV anyway! His name is Dave Simpson and he responded to my email the next day. I shipped my power supply to him, and he fixed it! I got it back, plugged it in, turned on the television just in time to see my football team get destroyed! The whole process took less than a week! The best thing about this is that the cost of the repair was quite reasonable! This is especially true when you think of how much a new television would cost you! He even takes Paypal!
