EMachines T3092 MoBo Layout

I'm doing free work on a puter for a family in need. They say the unit was still working but started to smell hot so they shut it off. Two ears on the CPU heatsink/cooling fan bracket broke and let the assembly drop off the CPU and in the moving of the unit the assembly knocked three wire sets off mobo. I replaced the plastic bracket but now unit won't power up and I don't want to start randomly sticking plugs on sockets. The wire sets that are displaced all go to the front panel and are:
1. The wires that go to the cardreader/firewire ports.
2. The wires that go to the mic/earphone ports.
3. The three plugs that go to front panel; H.D.D. LED (RED/WHITE wires), Power LED (GREEN/WHITE wires) and Power Switch (BLACK/WHITE wires).
Does anyone have a layout of mobo or can help me with wire placement on mobo?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I have a Shure mic hooked up to my emachines T3092 through a Behringer mixing board. The board works fine, but I am getting over modulated scratchy voice when I record to cool edit pro. Tried every...

Which particular mic?

Go through the signal chain. Mic to mixer to pc.

All the level changes are suspect, what busses are you using...

e.g.
mic to channel 1 on mixer.
trim on mixer 1
fader on mixer 1
L/R balance
fader on L/R
which output from mixer are you using

Then the windows mixer (start/run "sndvol32.exe")
adjust the volume, WAVE, mic, etc.

My first instinct is the windows mic level.

Emachine t3092, no video, can't find certain desktop files

If they're not on the drive, they're not on the drive. Your only other option is to search the free disk space for the remainder of those files. For that you can use the free trial of O&O Unerase Personal. I hope you get those files, never fun to lose memories over a peculiar computer issue.

T2893 desktop did not power on when I hit the power button

If you can find someone that has the same model, that is the best way to make sure it fits. Some other motherboards will fit, but you may have to do some work to get them to fit. The best way would be to try to do some research on your particular motherboard (mobo) on the internet. Sometimes it will have a manufacture’s name and model on it, try googling it and see what type it says it is (ATX, mini-ATX, AT, etc). One problem you may have is the power button connectors may not be compatible with your new motherboard if you get something besides an emachine mobo. If you are good at electronics it will not be much of a problem for you.

Unless you get an exact e-machines mobo, your OS will most likely not work at startup. Windows XP does not like wholesale changes like a mobo. When it sees that a major configuration change has happened it sometimes freaks out. Sometimes it will just ask you to re-activate windows other times it gets stuck in a reboot loop. Hard rive and CD rom should still work, provide you do not get too new of a mobo. Older HDD and CD drives were IDE connectors, newer ones have SATA connectors. Unless your mobo and power supply unit (PSU) have the correct connectors you will not be able to use them.

To the poster who asked if it could be anything else besides bad mobo. Yes it can occasionally be a bad power supply unit (PSU). A bad PSU does not necessarily mean no power, just not enough power to run the computer. You can try swapping it out with another one of equal or greater output watts. You can try removing the power connectors from the drives and then remove the memory and see if it changes the boot up procedure of your machine. More beeps, different beeps, no beeps, etc. Add one component back at a time to test. Make sure you get the same results and not just a one-time fluke start up. If a memory stick is bad, it usually is bad. A power supply or mobo can be flaky and fail some times and not others.

Service pack3 crashed puter - after reinstall machine thinks extra hard drive is a disk drive.

You can get to the BIOS by hitting DEL or F2 at start up.

However, that does not have anything to do with a drive letter.

Drive letter designation is set in
START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>COMPUTER MANAGEMENT>DISK MANAGEMENT.

Hope this helps.
