Windows will automatically connect to the internet during installation if you allow it in order to find updates & drivers. Good luck.

I have Acer aspire 5742 model. It has operating system of Linpus I want to remove it and install windows 7 and Linux os. Please give instructions to do that chirani

You don't have to do anything to remove it actually. If you just format the disk it will be removed (for ever though) so just install the right on it don't even have to boot in Linpus.

Making your laptop Dual boot(that is the term for having two operating systems on a computer) with windows and Linux is a little tricky though.

Basically the whole problem is that windows will wipe your linux if you are not careful and will wipe your boot partition for sure (Windows 7 might not - haven't tried it).

So All you have to do is install Windows. While partitining the disk just take enough space for it and leave enough for the windows - you can wipe the whole disk if you want to. The Linux will need from 4 - 12+ GB of installation space (maybe less if it's live cd and you won't keep files there).
After you have installed your Windows. Just install your favorite Linux distribution in the space left.
If you have any other questions mainly to the Linux installation, I'll be pleased to help you.

I have a aspire 5515 acer with Vista Basic and i want to install Xp Pro. When i try to install Xp pro it starts and the comes back that it is quiting the installion because it will damage something. How do...

There's no single way to install Windows XP. As there is no CD / DVD drive, you have two main choices:

1. Purchase an external CD / DVD drive. Plug it into a USB port on the Aspire, and then access the BIOS, Make sure the CD drive is first, and insert your Windows XP disc. You should now be able to install it normally.

2. Use a bootable Flash drive. This method will be far more difficult, and requires a moderate amount of experience with computers. First you will need to install QEMU on another computer. Create a hard drive the same size or smaller than the one in the Acer. Install Windows XP to it using QEMU. Copy the hard drive image onto a USB Flash drive. Now install some version of Linux on it, such as Puppy Linux or Damn Small Linux. Howtos are available in the Related Links section below. Boot from the Flash drive, and access a command line. Find your hard drive in the /dev folder (probably sda or hda). Now issue the following command

dd if=image.img of=/dev/hda

This will make an exact copy of the hard drive image to the hard drive in the Acer. Waituntil the command is completely done. Now turn off the computer and unplug the flash drive. When you power it back on, it should boot into Windows.

After you're done. Download the latest drivers for your hardware from Aser's website and install them. Or use the drivers CDs that came bundled with the notebook.

Wi-Fi drivers for Acer Aspire 4710Z for linux

The drivers for Windows can be used if no specific Linux drivers exist. There's a program within Linux called NDisWrapper which is designed to use the drivers provided for Windows XP in Linux. Refer to your particular distribution of Linux for the details on how to set up NDisWrapper from within your distribution (I've only done it in Ubuntu so have no experience of other distros)

I suggest use a wipe program,
it should be simple to delete a non partition but you may not have all he tools needed. a bootable floppy with dos is preferred.

here is a small free program http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,22920-order,1-page,1-c,harddisk/description.html

Not able to install linux

My guess is that when installing XP the option to format using NTFS was accepted. You should get a (Windows 98) DOS start floppy/CD and re-partion and format the drive before booting Linux install from CD/DVD
