GE Artica (pss26msrss) both the freezer and the refridgertor will not cool down...

Unplug and manually defrost with a hair drier because that ice you see on back wall of your freezer is a result of frost buildup behind that rear panel. Place all the frozen items in another safe place until the defrost is complete. Here is what your freezer may look like behind that rear panel. Not much cooling in freezer or fresh food section because this frost is blocking airflow.

My LG refrigerator is not cooling (LSC27910) is not keeping items cold. the freezer is functioning properly............the refrigerator is not

THERE IS A SETTING FOR TEMP IN FRIDGE, MAKE SURE IT IS SET TO PROPER TEMP SETTING . NEXT MAKE SURE THE FAN IS WORKING IN THE FREEZER (DOOR OPEN PRESS LITE SWITCH) NO FAN? IT WILL NEED TO BE OILED OR REPLACED.. (FAN YES)TRY MANUALLY DEFROSTING IT, USE A BOX OR SIMILAR BIG FAN AND CLEAN AND WIPE DOWN THE INSIDE OF THE FRIDGE.. TAKES ABOUT A 1.5 HRS TO DEFROST.. YOU MAY HAVE A DEFROST TIMER ISSUE , IF SO YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED OR REPEAT THE DEFROST CYCLE MANUALLY, SAY ONCE A MONTH .. IF YOU ARE ON A BUDGET ..BEST OF LUCK ..JAY FLORIDA

My ice maker not making enough ice . I have already check the water. thank you

When an icemaker slows production, the problem is not the icemaker at all but the temps in the freezer warming up because of an airflow problem either in the freezer compartment evaporator coils or underneath the unit that being the condenser coils. (Fan not working or lint blockage)
Airflow problems in the freezer compartment are caused by the fan or the automatic defrost system not functioning properly so yu end up with an ice block / lots of frost in the freezer compartment on the back wall of the compartment.

Check for ice or large amounts of frost in the freezer compartment. If you note ice / excessive frost, unplug the unit, empty the freezer compartment and do a manual defrost by directing an external fan into the compartment for just over 2 hours. This will ensure the evaporator coils and the freezer compartment drain have thawed. While the manual defrost is in progress remove the rear fiberboard cover from the compressor access and check / clean the condensor coils and fan area.
After 2 hours clean up the excess water.. reassemble the rear cover and return the unit to NORMAL service. It should start making lots of ice in 4 to 6 hours. Here is the kicker... if there is an auomatic defrosting problem your icemaker will after 2 - 3 days again slow ice producion and ice will build up in the evaporator area. You will have to keep repeating the manual defrosting process every 3 to 4 days until the automatic defrost system is repaired.

There are 3 main components of the Automatic defrost system:
1. Defrost control
2. Defrost heater
3. Defrost thermostat or depending on type thermistor

Most of the time the problem is either the defrost control or the heater that fails and the unit stops defrosting.

I have an LG LRFD25850ST refrigerator. The ice maker along with the ice tray and all the walls around it continue to frost up. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

This will be a defrost problem. There are 3 components in the defrost circuit.

  1. Defrost control board (ADC)
  2. The heat element
  3. A bi-metal
If any one of these components fails, the freezer will not defrost. This can be put into a manual defrost to help determine the problem. Put this into a defrost, by doing the following, in order:
  1. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet for at least 13 seconds.
  2. Turn the thermostat off (leave it off)
  3. Plug the power cord back in
In just a few seconds, you should hear a click and the element should come on. Shortly you will hear some popping and hissing. If you never hear this noise, either the heater or bi-metal will be open.

Make sure the unit is not all iced up, try to defrost it and then retry, turn off the ice maker and water supply before defrosting. Put a thermoter in the freezer to check temp.

Check for current flow through the defrost heater. If no current then replace the heater. If heater is OK check thermistor for correct operation. From service manual chart (their words not mine): ER DH is Poor defrosting. Indicates: Even though it is passed 1 hour since then

My side by side refridgertor is freezing

Depending on model you have a condensate drain pluged up. Unplug and look on the frezzer side bottom and see how to take off the back panel. Possibely 4 to 6 screws. Once you take that off look at the very bottom. You will see a hole and some metal or foil around that hole. this may or may not have ice in it or not. If you have ice in it you can pour hot water on it from the tap. Ice gone, you can get a steamer and put the attachement that has a small end on it and blow steam down the hole. If you dont have a steamer you can carefully pour hot water down the hole and see if it is pluged. Should drain in a few min. Dont pour then 2 cups of water down the drain. You will fill up the condesate pan and have a water mess. Good luck and keep me posted.
