Question about SanDisk Sansa c140 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Song order I've uploaded tracks to the player, but they won't play in album order - most of the time they play in alphabetical order. How can I upload them so that they play in the order they are on the album? Thanks

Re: song order

I had the same problem with mine. So i was using the program Windows Midea Player when i converted my songs to my MP3 player which at first they were in WMA format. then i tryed to change. so i changed the format to MP3 and that put the songs into order of the album.

Most of the time the sucks under the albums file won't be in alphabetical order, usually you have to go under the folder and change the view settings. if you can't do that then manually arrange them if possible. and if that doesn't work, they will stay like that.

You can copy these tracks back onto your computer, delete them off your MP3 player.
Rename each track to the song name and then copy them back onto the MP3 player

This is from Memorex FAQs:
Some programs put the track number as the first 2 characters of the song title (file name) this will cause the player to put the songs in the same order as the CD (or album for those of us old folks). If you drag files onto the MP3 players you can arrange them in any order you wish in the file view of your windows computer. When you go through the songs on the MP3 player, they will be in alphabetic order based on the file name (song title usually). You can't change the player's settings to play in anything but alphabetical order. There is a work around: People can force the play list order by naming the songs with a numeric prefix (i.e. 01, 02 etc) so the alphabetic listing in the player will put them in the order you prefer.

You didn't do anything wrong - some mp3 players only organize tracks alphabetically.I don't know if that player lists a manufacturer other than Nokia, but it looks like you got a cheap custom-build or clone. All you can do is make sure that all of the information is correct in the ID3 tags, use Windows Media Player to transfer the songs/playlists to the player, and double-check the manual to see if they have Setting to change the order in which tracks are played.

A workaround would be to alpabetically change the names of the songs so that they play in the order you want, but on some mp3 players you cannot change that alphabetical order problem.

Will not play songs in ALBUM order

yes, this player is naturally alphabetical, but you can re-edit the track #'s in the id3 tag, and then retransfer the song to the goGear - should work

I want tracks from alphabetical to album order...

Try renaming the tracks on your PC with a two digit track number at the beginning of the title, e.g 01 - Track name.

Re-load the tracks on to your player and use the album list to play them.

My lists are in reverse order

You have to delete those songs off the player, put them in reverse order in Windows Media Player, and then reload them to GoGear. I know it's a pain, but it is the only method that works.
