The only model and serial number I find are Y-80455-D 6 2712250 White 6 2713130 Bisque these numbers are under the control dial. The washer is making a loud clunking noise all the time even as it is filling with water. Also the front edge of the drum looks like it is rubing on something as it is really rough. We purchased this washer at auction.

Re: Maytag Neptune Washing Machine
Can you reach inside the unit and grab tub and lift it up(as if perhaps the rear shaft has loosened causing more then a 1/4 inch of play in inner drum??? if that s the case sounds as if perhaps you have a bad rear bearing (over $700 in parts alone)

This sounds like a possible Clutch issue. Is the machine model an FAV6800A or FAV9800A? When the washer is banging around do you take unbalance errors such as dC or uC? Do you want to DIY the fix or call in a repair service. If you could confirm your machine model number......Rich
If the 120VAC wahser service outlet has power and the machine LED Control Console for the FAV6800AW or LCD screen for the FAV9800AW appeares to have no power then I feel you have a Control Board failure. If you post your model number we can give you and aproxmate cost of the Control Board. The Control Board is under warranty for 5 yr. If you call Maytag customer service at 1-800-688-9900 they will need your Model Number and Serial number located on the rear top right of the console.
The above machine types do not have an internal fuse or circuit breaker to check.
Try disconnecting the 120VAC power cord for a few minutes then re-power back up if you haven?t already tried that. If you still have the same issue then you may have a failed Control Board. If it?s the FAV6800AW is there an error code in the LED display? If the machine will not d let you into Service Mode then my next step would be to replace the Control Board a 10 minute job. If you decide to call in a service repair company I would call Maytag for an authorized Maytag repair service in your area. Some parts like the Control Board may still be under warranty (5yr). Warranty info is in the SM link I attached. The number to call is 800-688-9900. Maytag will need your model number and serial number, that info is located on the back right top side of the console. The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference. Post back if you have questions or want to dig deeper into the issue
There are two electronically controlled valves in the back of the machine; one for hot water and the other for cold. It sounds like your cold valve is stuck closed or not getting the electronic signal to open. I recommend going to the following web site or calling 1-800-344-1274 for help from Maytag. They will want to know your model number and serial number so try to have that information handy when you call.
The age is determined by the SERIAL NUMBER. Please post back with your complete serial number, particularly the last two letter designations. With that info I can tell you month and year the washer was manufactured.
