Spin Safety Switch has broken where it screws into the machine

If you take a one inch paint scraper and insert it about three inches from the edge of the washing machine top and push on a small spring clip. At the same time lift up on the washing machine top. You can now access the lid switch. There are two screws holding the switch in place located inside the lid.
You can take the switch into any appliance service store and they can help you get a new switch.

Kenmore washing machine skips one or both of spin cycles intermittently but timer completes cycle. Lid switch replaced as first try, still have problem. Suggestions?

If I read you correctly the machine finishes the cycle and just doesn't spin? There could be a loose or broken wire in the motor harness. Look in the area where the harness plugs into the motor.

Kenmore series 70 washer won't spin, it agitates, but won't go into the spin cycle.

Hello, Your problem is going to be with your lid switch, this is located normally either in the control panel or about half way down on the right side under the lid. Once you have located the switch trace the wires back to the wire harness in the control panel. Disconnect the lid switch from the wire harness and with an ohms meter check for condinuity on pin 1 & 3 (the 2 outside pins not the middle this is a ground) You should find you have no condinuity and should replace this switch. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!! Mike

Kenmore 70 series

sounds like the lid switch has failed-no clicking usually means it is broken.
If you can get the top control panel up,you will see the molex plug that connects the harness to the switch.Jump the white and gray wires out and see if the unit spins.

Good Luck!

Kenmore 70 series will not drain or spin

It sounds like the lid switch. If it ws the coupler the water would drain. Check to see if the lid switch is clicking when you put the lid down. replace the lid switch. You have a great washer. Fairly cheap fix.

Kenmore 20722 Motor Coupler or Cluch assembly?

Its easy to check the coupler, i would do that first to make sure then if its ok , well clutch. Kenmores, a.k.a. whirlpool's , are very common to have both problems. Just remove da pump and hoses, then remove the motor and check the coupler.

Kenmore washer

Lori, first check the lid switch, if it's broken, it won't spin or drain. Put it into spin and hold the switch down, see if it drains. Check that back.

Does not spin sometimes

Tbone, make sure the lid switch is not broke or loose and the actuator is making the lid switch. Usually when you have a no spin, no drain on these direct drive models it involves the lid back.
