Regarding the removal of the Convergence board... How do you disconnect the "bridge-like" leads that connect this board with the circuit board to the left of it? Or do you not need those if they break? I am just concerned about those.
They just pop off ~ pull up and out on the right side of "bridge". Then just fold carefully up and our of the way so you can get at the board. You do not have to remove both sides of these. Very simple ~ just becareful not to twist so you're not bending and weaking the wires.

The tv have a problems known as a convergence picture problems,it is dead.Tv set have any colors lines R,G,B mis alignments, have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures look alike?Yes,than the tv convergence board it is dead to causes all these problems. Now the tv set convergence board must have to be repair like replacing 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.To fixed the tv set convergence board to solved the tv set convergence pictures promblems. The tvs shops will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks! See link for more detail http://www.ehow.com/how_4575598_yourself-projection-tv-repair-convergence.html
More than likely it is a convergence problem. Best way to tell is to unplug the plugs marked red conv, blue conv, and green conv. Careful not to unplug yoke plugs by mistake, and make sure you mark plug and board when disconnecting. If convergence amps are the problem, set should power up with convergence plugs disconnected. Do not leave set playing very long. This is just to verify problem. Your welcome, Russmann.
Check to make sure you reconnected the jumpers to connect the board that you removed. Also, check to make sure no resistors are burning. If still no pix, make sure you reconnected multi pin plug by digital convergence unit (DCU). Next, disconnect conv. plugs marked red, green and blue. This should allow power to come up if chip(s) are bad. Next, check pico fuses on board by jumper connectors or in power supply. If these are open look for solder bridges around conv. amps. Also, if any of these are open check all zener diodes beneath heat sinks where you installed conv. amps. Probably 27 v glass zeners shorted if solder bridges were created when changing chips. Good luck, sometimes you just get a bad I.C,Russmann.
C603 is a polyestor capacitor 0.068UF-FEB 50V part number 0880047R S901 is the power relay ALKS329 the part number for the relay is FJ00142 . I recomend checking the pins on the ICs to make sure they are not bridged. If you need more assistance let me know. Vance Baldwin should have the parts if not you may have to order through hitachi
ohhh boy very carefully, i released the wires from around the holders
to give me room and disconnected the ones that didn't stretch enough
then removed the screws around the black holder that holds the boards
and lifted the board up and unsolded the head sink and then the ic's
check out these liks for pics and better explainantion
sounds like convergance amp ic's see links below ·http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm ·http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html ·http://www.techlore.com/blog/entry/19694/Sony-Convergence-Repair-My-Sony-TV-has-a-distorted-picture-/ ·http://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/index.php?s=
