Squeeling Noise (from the pully pump I think) Maytag MAV8600AWW
I have a top loading Maytag MAV8600AWW. I can hear a loud squeeling noise that sounds like it is coming from the pulley pump. Everything still seems to work correctly. Does anyone have any idea if it is the pulley pump, the belt or something else? Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

The not completly filling and squeeling makes me want to look at the screen on the water valve that the hoses attach to on the rear of the machine for blockage preventing water flow,to me the squeeling is the solonoids on the water valve calling for water yet no water coming in. IF you manually fill the washer using buckets of water/a hose what will happen? perhaps try that!! Also if you have the "aquaflow flood stop" hoses the internal stopper in the hose is bad, replace hoses using standard hoses
Good luck,i hope this helps you to fix your washer, Gene
This sounds like a leak under the unit and above the motor. I would suggest tipping the unit back, look unit the washer for milking brown residue on the cabinet and the motor area. If present you will need a new outer tub and this won't repair will not be cheap. I am sure this answer is not what you want to hear. If no residue, I would look into the pumps as you can have a foreign objects inside them and cause a-lot of noise during operation. But the only way to make sure if to look.
Hope for the best...
Your problem may be a seized water pump with the motor turning the drive belt on a water pump pulley that is not turning (belt squealing). Or the noise could be originating from a water pump that has a noisy/bad bearing. If the pump pulley is turning and making the noise, you may be able to lubricate the pump shaft with some quality shaft lubicant (no guarantee that the noise will cease)! If other problem, contact an appliance service company.
squeeling may be the belt caused by the pump failing . roll the belt off and see if pump turns freely . and forget about what i told you albot the removal of agit . i don't think anything is under it . mm
This is probably the drive belt slipping on the drum or motor. There is usually no adjustment on these and it is a case of replacing the belt. If you take the top off the machine, you may be able to look inside while it is running (KEEP CLEAR OF THE ELECTRICS AND DO NOT DELVE INSIDE WHILE THE MACHINE IS IN THIS STATE!) and see the belt slipping. If it is, it's probably time for a new belt
