Asrock Motherboard problems with SATA HDD

Hi,

i have Asrock P4V88, Socket 478, Chipset VIA PT880,
Celeron 2,8GHz
512Mb 400Mhz DDR RAM

i have tried to install a new SATA HDD, but even the BIOS did not recognized it. (Samsung HD322HJ) - SATA, 30Gb

(The HDD works because i have formatted it in another PC.)

yes, i checked every cable, both sata slots (there are two),

all BIOS settings, did not work.

i suspect it will 1,5Gb/s vs. 3Gb/s problem, but i do not know what to do.

    it is a 3Gb/s HD.

It is possible that you are trying to use a SATA II HDD in a system that supports SATA. SATA II devices are not backwards compatible usually,

What is the max size of ddr400 memory you can fit into ddr1 & ddr2 dimm slots on a p4vm8 mother board

1) Total maximum amount for motherboard is 2GB.

2) There are 2 Ram Memory slots.

3) Maximum amount for EACH ram memory slot is 1GB.

Either DDR Sdram at 266MegaHertz, or 333MHz, or 400MHz.
PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200, respectively.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/VIA/P4VM8/

There is no DDR1 and DDR2 slots, in a manner of speaking.

May be marked on your motherboard that way, but stating it that way on a computer product support website = No.

You're going to make someone think, you don't know what you are talking about.

They may think you are referring to DDR Sdram, and DDR2 Sdram, and they know the motherboard only uses DDR Sdram ram memory.

Suggest state Slot 1 and Slot 2; or DIMM 1 and DIMM 2.

Asrock P4V88 SATA RAID 1.5 Windows 7

No drivers for windows 7, here at the homepage:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/VIA/P4V88/?cat=Download

But try the VIA drivers from here:

http://www.viaarena.com/drivers.aspx

This mainboard will probably only only run the 32 bit system.

Good luck

Dear Sir, my mother board d101 has been damaged can i use of p4sd m/b insted of that while i want all rest parts remain using i dont want change ram,SMPS, Proccesser etc.

fbhushan, the Intel D101GGC motherboard (Grand Country) supports;

1) Intel Pentium 4, Intel Celeron D, and Intel Pentium D processors that fit in an
> LGA 775 processor socket.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_775

The Processor has the socket holes, and the processor socket (LGA 775) has the pins.
775 socket holes, and 775 pins.

The Front Side Bus (FSB) can be either 533MegaHertz, or 800MHz.

2) Supports DDR Sdram ram memory at either 333MegaHertz or 400MHz.
(PC2700 and PC3200, respectively)

Will support Up To 2GB of ram memory.
Has two ram memory slots. The maximum amount for EACH slot is 1GB

3) The SMPS used for it has,
A) One 24-pin ATX main power cable

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atxmain24

B) One 4-pin ATX +12 Volt power cable,

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atx12v4

The Intel D101GGC motherboard has Four SATA headers (Connectors) on it, so I'm going to assume you are using a SATA harddrive.
This would mean the SMPS you are using should have at least one SATA power cable.

It should also have an assortment of 4-pin standard Peripheral power cables.
(Misnomered as 'Molex')

The Asus P4SD (Motherboard chipset Intel 865PE) supports;

1) Intel Pentium 4 and Intel Celeron processors that fit in a > Socket 478 processor socket

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_478

The Processor has the pins, and the processor socket has the socket holes.
478 pins, and 478 socket holes.

Your Processor will NOT work.

The Ram Memory WILL work.

The SMPS MAY work.

I state MAY because the Asus P4SD motherboard uses a 20-pin ATX main power cable.

If the last four pins of the 24-pin ATX main power cable that you have on your SMPS right now, Do Not remove, you can Carefully cut them off. Wrap them up, and out of the way.
If you need guidance on this I can help instruct you.

You need an IDE (PATA) harddrive, or a SATA adapter card to use a SATA harddrive.

So there you have it sir.

joecoolvette

Asrock P4V8+ freezes after ram checking

Try going into the BIOS and selecting safe or minimal settings/options save and reboot. If this works go back to BIOS and make changes one at a time until it may not work again, then you will know which option is causing the system hang ups. My guess is also your motherboard is SATA 1 capable (1.5
gbs) not SATA 2, in which you could purchase a separate controlller card for your HDD. Good luck.

Asrock K7VM2 Motherboard Memory Upgrade

Some MOBO support different type of memory modules like ddr 400, 333,533 and other, if your computer is working fine with that PC400 it only means that your MOBO is compatible with it. Since you're planning to upgrade the memory just get another PC400 because the memory should be the same to work fine.
