Question about HP Compaq 1501 15" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

When I turn my monitor on a "Going to Sleep" message is displayed on a black screen and then the screen goes all black. We had a power outage acouple of nights ago and the pc was on. Since then our power has shut off and right back on about 4 or 5 times and of course the pc was on every time. It is a Compaq 1501 flat screen monitor and I am using Windows XP operating system. Any one out there have any ideas how to fix this problem?

It will be video cable or related.

Responding to prior post,
Fuses have nothing to do with the video proper.
If you have a message on the screen, which says the monitor is basically working or saying the fuses and inverter is working.

That message appears with lack of video, so it can be the cable itself, possibly the video card on the computer.

Screen saver displaying unwanted message

This happens on monitors with a sleep type function. Make sure that the sleep mode is turned off and that it is set to never turn off inside of windows. Then the no signal error should not come on again.

Computer asleep

If you go to control panel > display settings > Screen Saver > Power (win XP) or Control Panel > Power Settings (Vista).

This will allow you to turn off the sleep or change the amount of time until the computer goes to sleep or turns the monitor off.

Screen goes to sleep after "no signal" message

If you do not move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard it could be just going into video power save. Confirm it by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard. If the monitor comes back on, adjust the power settings in control panel and change the time for the "turn off display" to a more suitable setting.

Monitor "Goes to sleep"

Have you tried to go in thru the control panel and select "display"? From here you can go to the screen saver section and adjust the time it takes for the screen to cut out. Of course you want to use a monitor that you can read before you set up both of your screens.. See if that helps....
