1inch vertical strip down left side of my Samsung 32in CRT TV

I have a 32in Samsung CRT Television that has a 1 inch vertical black stip running down the left hand side, the picture is fine otherwise, it is like the picture has just shifted to the right or is wrapped around.

How can I adjust the Horizontal Position on my TV I read somewhere that I can get into the service area with the remote and I was in there once (forget how to again) but I didn't know what to change once I got in

  • s_stroeder Dec 21, 2008

I found out how to get into the service menu but have no idea what to change. To do so, with the TV off press mute-1-8-2-power in succession. The model of the TV is: TSL3293HF

Thanks everyone for trying. I continued researching and found out which setting in the service menu needed to be adjusted and I just fixed the problem. Thanks

Its due to the failure of the main board capacitors just take a multimeter and check out for the faulty 1 and replace it with new 1 and then the tv will work properly. for capacitors u can check out radioshack websites.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls post back the exact model number or chassis number.

Offhand would suggest checking the capacitors at the power supply both on the primary and secondary. Another capacitor to check would be along the main B+ before the FBT (flyback transformer).

Alternately, you may want to check the HV capacitors/components before the yoke.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Your TV requires Horizontal Position adjustment and might be few weak capacitors replacement too.

It would be Horizontal Size and Horizontal Shift combination to place picture in correct order on both sides of screen.

We have lost a two inch wide black section on the right side of the plasma panel, any ideas

Most likely the lower buffer board " E " needs to be replaced. Right now I'm working on repairing a 42" Samsung plasma HP-R4272. The Service manual for that TV says for trouble shooting for that problem is the lower buffer board " E ".
Best to find the correct Service Manual for your TV over the internet to get the correct part number for replacement. The Service Manual should be less than $20.

Vertical Black line 3 inch width on Plasma Samsung 42C96HD after 2 months of use

I also have the same problem I phoned Samsung today to explain the tv was only 14 months old, they didn't wanna no because it was out of warrenty by 2 months. I am getting a black solid line down the left hand side of the screen. I ended up phoning Dixons were we bought it from, they have told me to get an independent engineers report done & send the report to them within 14 days. Dixon told me it was a known problem with Samsungs. They said they will fix it free of charge if they can if not they will send vouchers to the same value of the television. So beware stay clear of Samsungs.

Your set has either a bad driver board or more likely a bad plasma panel.
