Homelite LRI 4400 Home Generator-No output

3rd year of limited use, all of the sudden no electical output. have reset all GFI's and reset buttons.

I have a couple of new rectifiers, but don't know if that is the problem or where they go.

Ideas?

Generator output plugs don`t work

If you don't see a reset then you may have to replace a diode or voltage rectifier inside your unit.

Hi and welcime to FixYa. I am Kelly

This is going to sound odd but.... this is how it it is recommended to field flash and inverter type generator. (Brushless) The steps are to (not kidding...) use a male mail interconnecting wire from your house wiring and plug in your generator and turn ON the main CB for 1 minute.

If this does not work.... See steps below amnual links.

Owners manual link: (Click on get manual)
http://lawnandgarden.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/homelite/hg6000_1.html

Or try this direct link:
http://lawnandgarden.manualsonline.com/support/homelite/portable-generator/request-manual-299128

This is a brushless generator... Not sure what the smoke was but... the yellow wires are for the capacitor winding. If you probe the capacitor terminals with one of the wires disconnected with a meter on R x 10,000 you should see a brief jump in resistance and then the meter drifts to infinity.
reverse the test leads and test again looking for the same result.

Next read resistance Yellow wire to Yellow Wire (Stator capacitor loop check) It should read low resistance

Also read Brown wire to Brown wire. This is the DC stator loop check. Is should read resistance.

Main winding checks Red to Blue and White to Brown that goes to the main breaker. OR Turn the Main breaker on.. White to lower left pin of 30A 4 pin output recepticle. Bot red to blue and White to Brown MUST read low resistance

These are all the checks except the rectifier and the rotor. You will probably find something during the above tests. If not... respond here and I will pass on the rotor and diode tests.

Mitsubishi MGE 6700 generator. Starts and runs fine, but no longer putting out power. What would it cost to repair this issue?

These generators have a GFI outlet on them, and they do fail. I would suggest you check all output circuits and see if you have any output. If so, pull the GFI and see if it is getting power to the outlet. If so, replace the outlet.

Just up graded from a homelite 4400 to a craftsman 5600 generator 5600 does not have enough output as did the 4400 why

Some manufacturers tend to fudge the numbers and throw around the 'peak' output power as continuous and it isn't. Peak (or surge) is the power a generator will handle as starting current (for example) for a motor and can be 120-140% of the actual continuous power.
Check you owner's manual, find the detailed specs which will normally contain the maximum continuous current rating. If it is listed separately for 120 and 220 (240) volts look for separate current ratings for each output.
By multiplying the current(s) times the output voltages you can find the total resistive output into a purely resistive load such as an electric heater.
For example: 120VAC X 20 A=2400 watts. If other outputs are available such as 220VAC, multiply its current rating: 10A. or 2200 watts Adding those two results 2400 2200=4600 watts will give you the rated power of a unit.
You can also recognize stupid power claims if the engine's horsepower is given. One (US) HP = ~746 watts. Since no generator is 100% efficient, its a fair rule of thumb to guesstimate the available electrical power at ~70% of the engine's rating (although, this is often also wildly optimistic). 10 HP X .7= ~746 X 7 or a bit over 5,000 watts.

I have the same unit and same problem.
I have lost my owners manual. Did you figure out what needs to be done to correct the no output issue.

When i plug anything to the generator it does not work

Try replacing the receptacle the 2 gang GFI unit can go bad, you need a 30 amp GFI female plug and can be bought at any hardware store, but be sure it is rated 30 amps on less, also try hitting the red reset button and the GFI button to reset.
