I can access cameras from laptop at home...but I can't access from other locations...It's set with DHCP...and I'm trying to connect using the IP address for the unit...just as I do at home...but it's saying there is a firewall or other device that is blocking remote access?

Try and take down the firewall. Then try remote access.
If that does not work . check the port forwarding settings on your router .
